I just finished reading Mowat's "My Father's Son". I just can't get over how our boys were treated and viewed by their own country when they risked so much, especially the crap the zombies pulled.
It is no wonder my Grampa was all too eager to get out of his "monkey suit" as soon as he got home and discharged in `46.
Each and every one should be honored and respected like the link Superbee posted.
That man shot a half minute group at 1,000 yards, at 84 years of age, using a gun he'd never fired before, with a scope he'd never used before, all into the head of the target. To me that's more proof that those old warriors had skill levels that we need to learn from and honour them for.
Wow. That was just great! I grew up in small town Saskatchewan, where I still live, amongst WWI and WWII vets. So many families that I have grown up with had men like that were fathers, brothers, sons, uncles. The greatest men on earth. So many families lost their sons in those stinking wars. The ones that are left are my heroes, every one of them.
