I’m pleased to announce that once again we will be holding our 8th Double Gun Classic on the first Saturday in June, which this year is June 1, 2024. And, as in past years we will be holding the event on the grounds of the Oshawa Gun Club.

After missing a couple years due to the Covid shutdowns, we came back with a bang last year and had a great meet. A couple of highlights from 2023 is that we were able to debut our stellar trophy for the winner of the Gun of the Year prize, which last year went to an amazing Greener 4 bore. We had two fantastic vintage SxS gunsmiths in attendance, our first international guest who came all the way from Houston and a near record overall attendance. And the guns….. what can I say.

If you have even a passing interest in vintage doubles, this event is not to be missed. It’s the number one opportunity north of the border to see and shoulder an amazing array of fine vintage shotguns. I have it on good authority that a few guns actually changed hands that day. I know that because Chris Dawe won’t stop talking about the vintage English SxS he scored.

Today we are just announcing that the event will be held again and that it will be on Saturday, June 1. More info will follow as details get worked out. So mark your calendars and make sure nothing conflicts……I’m talking to you, Patrick!

I'm going to use this first post to note all the important information as it develops over time. So don't forget to look here for the latest info. Here are some initial subjects that more information will be forthcoming on.

Raffle Prizes and tickets!:

Fundraising Raffle – Limited to 100 tickets at $10 each or 3 for $25.
First Prize - Re-chequering by Chris Dawe (Stillwater Restorations) value $300 to $800 depending on gun and chequering pattern, subject to approval during discussion with Chris Dawe.
Second Prize - Restored Vintage Axe by John Butler value $250
Third Prize - Custom made Dog Whistle by Claudio Opacak value $100.

Tickets are available starting now by contacting Canvasback (James Roblin jgroblin@gmail.com) either by PM or by email.
Tickets will also be available during the event (if not sold out by then).
When buying in advance your name and ticket number will be recorded on a sheet that will be available to view on the day of the Classic. I will not be mailing out tickets.
Draw will take place roughly 2:00 pm on Saturday June 1, during the event. If you can't attend and you win a prize, i will ensure it gets packed up and delivered to you via CP.
Funds raised will be entirely used to fund the costs of holding the 2024 UPDGC. Monies raised and not used this year will be held and applied to subsequent UCDGC events.

It's a Hollis built on I believe a Westley Richard's patent,30 inch ejector 12 gauge just shy of 7lb,I completely restored it over the summer just in time for the fall Barrens...worst part of the job was fixing a previous attempt at a checkering recut, took a bit of patience

Very nice, particularly the checkering pattern.

Yes! I'll be there, promoting the beauty of hammerguns!

Im really excited to have the opportunity to meet you, as well as many of the other very knowledgeable members that contribute their wisdom so freely with the general masses. Ive been around guns and all different forms of shooting since I was 5. I was five when I shot my first gun at the Golden Triangle Trap and Skeet club. The club was built with a grant from Wintario which makes the date in 1968. Im the longest member alive from the club. Unfortunately all the icons sooner or later pass which is sad but fortunate too have known them.

I'll be there this year. My knee is doing much better.

Happy to hear you recouped enough to squeeze in some hunts this year!! Itll be my pleasure to finally meet you as well as many of the other fine people on here. Looking forward.

Just a question if the sporting will be offered or available for those interested? Doesnt really matter but I remember some talk about this last year.
