8X63 Swedish Roll Call

The reason this came up for sale at the time was Sweden retrofitted all of its CV90’s with the Mag 58, it was originally outfitted with 1919A5’s as the coax to the 40mm. They still have barrels and spare parts for the 1919’s but won’t sell those parts, but the ammo is ok.

I was under the understanding that marstar bought the lot thinking that it was WW2 belted 30-06

Until they received it and found out it was 8x63.

anyways I picked up a commercial Mauser that had a 1919 barrel fitted to it and chambered in 8x63. I've got about 900 original rounds and about 200 pieces of brass that the projectiles and powder were salvaged from and I have done a little reloading.

figure that when I run out of brass it will be time to rebarrel to something else.

I bought a pile of that stuff from Marstar too to disassemble and reassemble into 8x57
The powder and bullets were great in that stuff too bad there’s no more around

Gunco in Ottawa has teamed many 8x57 guns to 8x63, though they rely on a local ‘nut to borrow a custom reamer.

I have one myself. It’s a great hunting round with the right projectiles.

Yup. He just did mine last year.
Still have the reamer and thinking of doing another one.

I've been popping out the berdan primers from the 8x63 brass with the hydraulic method, drying them out and using them to reload berdan brass from a variety of different old European milsurp calibers for range plinking. Saving expensive large rifle boxer primers for competition use.

True story - that’s what John told me at the time when I drive over to buy a few crates to run through TNW belt guns.

I still have a box of rounds on a belt. Not even sure what it would be worth these days but id be open to the idea.
It'll be 400 $ to get the reamer here. Then I have get a gun plumber to do it... debate able if it's worth the coin.
I don't know that recoil will be that bad. The stories of 'Broken collarbone' make me wonder... who puts a Milsurp on their collar bone to shoot it. So the story is suspect IMO.
The milsurp Legends are tiresome at times.
M44 recoil? I ran 80 rounds through an M44 one time. Got tired of the 'Kicks like a Mule' stories. Had some freckling on the shoulder.

I heard this came out of the Dominican. I missed the boat on the ones they had a few years back. The brass could probably be converted from berdan to boxer using the method I tried a few years back on x54r steel case.

Picked up a case of this stuff a few years back from Marstar, for the components. Still have several hundred rounds waiting to be broken down. I'd honestly love to get a Mauser barrel reamed to shoot this stuff.
