9-22 mags arrived

Second time I take the mags to the range. I shot all high velocity through them. A lot less feed problems this time, but still get that nasty problem of some rounds that end up facing downward in the mag. They are hard as hell to get out when they are like that. Still got a few misfeeds / double feeds.

As far as bolt interruption, much better this time. Out of 100 rounds I only got one that didn't get pushed into the chamber properly.

Going to try them once more and hope the bullets don't jam inside the mag. It happened to me 2-3 times on each mag.

Well tetra seems they are getting better for you .Buying Stingers at almost 10 bucks for 50 to get a $30 mag broke in seems stupid .Going to take mine out 1 last time if they don;t function right with ammo i have they will be going back

like 90% FTL jams on my 3 mags. nearly every round noses beside/above the chamber (say the 2oclock position) and jams. Pretty confident its caused by that bump of material where the bullet nose sits so when it feeds it gets pushed over to the right. I suppose that is what wears in for 'break in' but I dont feel like wasting 500 rounds trying to break in the mag. Going to try to round file that bump down a little

Anyone have any info on how to tell the difference between gen2 and gen3 mags? My mags came in plastic zip lock bags, with the sleeves in separate plastic zip lock bags

Yeah tried the mag today without the sleeve... maybe 5 shots went off without issues. It FT everything'd... lol

The mag is pretty hard to seat with the bolt forward. Then I was playing with the feed spring and ran out of patience after the second load and continued with the stock 10 shot mag.

Stingers only were used.

What did you guys set your feed wire to? I don't like the way it is indicated on the instructions.

I'm about 75% sure I threw them out, I'll check tonight.. It had an explanation as to how to set the wire/feed thing. Wasn't a great explanation but it was there.

Here you go:

Mine came with instructions now how do we sort out if they are 2's or 3's .Tetra said his came in factory packaging and mine came in plastic bag

mine had instructions in a plastic bag but they say aa922-a2.... I know aa922-a1 are gen 1 and aa922-a2 are gen 2. Shouldn't gen 3 be aa922-a3?

Well I tried everything. Shot about 200 rounds of high velocity though each.
I left 25 rounds in each mag for a week hoping the spring would get a tad better. But still, the rounds nosedive in the mag. I think I'm going to have to return them.

How do u remove the sleeve after its been locked onto the skinny mag? It won't twist at all

Ya, that was a bugger. I had to (protecting the mag with folded up paper towel) place the head of the mag in a bench vise upside down (only enough pressure to hold the mag steady) and used both hands on the sleeve to twist and pull. Won't be putting the sleeves on again until I want them to stay on.

thanks for the tip. to let you know, i removed the sleeve using an easier method (which i think is also mentioned in the manual).

get a pocket knife and bring out the nail filer with the little hook at the end of it and insert that little hook in the tiny hole near where the skinny mag inserts into the sleeve. pry it open and there should be enough space to slide the mag out of the sleeve without having to place it in a vice.

What a great company Hical is to deal with. I sent back my 9-22 mags and asked them instead of a refund if they could send me the 3 pack of BC smoke mags. They are a bit more expensive and I offered to pay the extra, but Dave offered to cover the difference including shipping.
Thanks again for the great service and sorry that the magazines did not work out for me. Hopefully other people have better luck!

Will definitely be purchasing at Hical again.

mine had instructions in a plastic bag but they say aa922-a2.... I know aa922-a1 are gen 1 and aa922-a2 are gen 2. Shouldn't gen 3 be aa922-a3?

I just checked my bags and they say aa922-a2 as well. When I sent the pre-order email to Hical I specified Gen 3 mags.

Dave, can you speak to this at all? Are these -a2 mags gen 2 or 3?

Thanks.
