Basically the same action, supposed to be somewhat improved. Different metallurgy from the M96.
The M46 was made from 1928 to the mid 1930s and actually used Carl Gustav actions because Husqvarna did not make M96/94 actions at that time. The M46A came about when Husqvarna started making the M38 miltary action in the late 1930s (or early 40s?) and began using it in their civilian rifles as well.
The 46A has a schnabel fore end on the stock, the 46 does not. The 46 has a more graceful barrel contour, the 46A has a more military looking step-down in barrel diameter just forward of the action.
And yes, I do like the cartridge very much.![]()
