Hi

I have just moved from Europe to Ontario so this forum is new to me

First of all Hello to you nice folks

I brought over my rusty 9.3x62 and I am just curious as to how popular is it in Canada ?

or 35 whelan is the flavour over here ......

The 35 Whelen seems to be more popular overall here in N/A, but the 9.3 has gained much ground over the last 10yrs. thanks to the internet.

Welcome to Canada ....... Did you subscribe to Gunnutz when you lived in Europe?

Wonderful !

I honestly thought there will be nobody except internet hunters using 9.3x62

Yes it is very very popular in the fatherland and most of western Europe

Although my experience in Canada hunting wise is limited

I don't think there will be any game here it cannot cover

In Scandinavia Norway, Sweden, Finland it is probably the norm

Now where do you guys get reloading supplies from ?

I have found 9.3 lapua brass @ Hirch Precision

I need to obtain either

250 A frames
232 Orynx
250 Accubonds
250 Barnes

and they have all worked without any problems

Ghubert,

welcome to Canada and here.

i ve done the same as you many years ago now and i had to say i left the 9.3 as component where not easy to find but due to the 9.3 big fan mr Why not im back on track.

you will find some guys from nothern part of Canada that has been addicted to it.

it is working great and on bigger animal that europe has or had ...

all the best.

Phil

You are well equipped to hunt any game in north America ( and most other places too ) I've owned and used 9.3's in most configurations for almost 30 years . I currently use a Husqvarna model 146 in 9.3X57 for Moose , it works very well . Your 9.3X62 is even more versatile , in fact , it is probably one of the most useful all around calibers out there . What make is your 9.3?

Take a look at Tradex , one of our site sponsors . Tony is a great guy to deal with and carries a good selection of 9.3 components .

Welcome to Canada and good hunting

Confession time
I have quite a few 9.3 all 62
however I have a howa 1500 built by a chap in Germany however it as a thicker profile barrel than I like
My favourite is my Blaser R93 with a 50cm semi weight barrel which is my to go rifle

A 9.3x62 is one of my most recent calibre acquisitions. Oh, there has been a move afoot;) to rename the calibre the ".366 Wagner" after a gentleman on site who has had a good deal of experience with the calibre, goes by Why not?
I opted for an 'inexpensive' M70 (98 Mauser) Zastava full stock model, as for me, a FS rifle design fits well with the more European calibre designations.

It isn't as smooth nor does it have the fine finishing touches of more expensive brands on the market but I was pleasantly suprised by the accuracy with my initial handloads.

Just prior to obtaining my 9.3, in preparation I obtained some reloading components at a local gun show. A set of RCBS dies, including a neck sizing die, 100 Lapua unprimed brass and, initially, a 'quantity of SP 285gr PRVI bullets. Shortly after, at gun shows and other outlets, I acquired an additional selection of bullets and also, a quantity of Norma once fired brass. The bullets selection I have now for testing includes the likes of 231 gr Norma, 286gr Norma, 250gr Speer, 286gr Barnes TSX and from Marshal at Matrix, 290gr. However:redface:, with the initial accuracy I've experienced with the 285gr PRVI bullets, I haven't even 'tried' any of the others, yet, as I feel I'd be hard pressed to surpass those first results:d.
I haven't used it in the field but hopefully I'll be able to correct that in the not too distant future.

Thank you again
Looks like we have a little family of afficionados here
I have only used lapua brass ever and they last for so many firings - i have lost count
powder wise i am stuck on varget depending on the chambering they vary between 2 - 3 grains
accuracy is almost boring
with age i have discarded almost everything else and use this one caliber for everything
Lovely stutzen you have there
will fit into any driven hunt social scene in the fatherland

Again where are you folks getting your 9.3 projectiles ?

The ones I listed in my previous post,
- The PRVI, Speer & the Norma, picked up at a local gun show
- The Matrix, from Marshal Ambrose of Matrix Bullets
- The Barnes TSX, WSS

I've been trying to find these myself. 250gr. ballistics look favourable in my opinion and I'm wanting a partition style bullet with a boat-tail.

Take a look at trade ex, that's where i get my 9.3 supplies.

And yes it's a great caliber.

Bought one because was one of my father's favorites back in Africa, and now i know why he liked it so much.

Cheers .

Victor.
