9.3X62 in an 1895 Winchester ?

Would an 1895 Winchester in 9.3x62 be a desirable rifle.

Why you gotta be like that? I was just about satisfied with my Mauser 98 in 9.3 and was watching Ted's Jerk-o-Matic project with curiosity. Now you come up with what might be the greatest idea since Lemon Gin and Fresca!

You need to find a rough-bore 30-06. Soon.

Always wanted to have Ron smith rebore a takedown 95.....

I remember an article in one of the gun mags awhile back about an Alaskan guide with a couple in 375 hawk scoville.

Same articale had a guide with a 1895 in 9.3x62 as big bear stoppers.
Sheep River Hunts Ed Stevenson I believe.

If I recall, the 375 scovill is based on a 9.3x62 and there was an article in Rifle about the cartridge in an 1895. And Reb, I think it was Ed Stevenson who was featured in it too.

I say build it!

They chambered a 405 so the 9.3 x 62 would be just a tad smaller then that. Sounds like a good idea. As would 9.3 x 62 in a Browning 1885 High Wall- with a long barrel and a hot load.

The 375 Hawk/Scovill was based on the 30-06 case actually and Ed used it for a time but finally went with the 45-70 in a Browning 1886 with a 20" tube. Good move on his part for fat ass, peed off bears in tight quarters.;)

You can get both versions of the 9.3 in the Ruger #1. Probably less likely to slap you silly than it would in an 85.
