I've used Varget, RL15, 4064 with good success with 285 gr. bullets. Have some CFE 223 on hand to try after reading good reports. And have a wonderful load with Lapua Naturalis 220 gr. and VV140. I believe the 9.3x62 is a cartridge about as easy to load as the .308. Most any powder within the medium burning rate works very well.
Anybody try using CFE223 in their 9.3x62?
Burn rate is in between Varget and RL 17
It should work. I ran some data through GRT, and while I have trust issues using that program, it seems to be close to the results I'm actually getting for 9.3mm.
You don't specify what bullet weight you're using. For 285 gr, I would start at 58-59 grs and work up from there.
I had a bunch of misfired, randomly in the same lot and then in other lots too, so I gave up and bought some federal 215 magnum rifle and never had a problem!DGY, what does "to many issues" mean?
I use 63gr of H414 under Lapua 285gr MEGA's. Max load. Group size at 100yds is just under 0.60" for 5 rounds. 200yds 1.44" (5 shots), 300yds 5.80" (5 shots).
When I decided to go for something in 9.3x62,aka .366 Wagner, I did so as a bit of a whim. Something a little different to whats already in the safe. In preparation for getting one, I started to accumulate some components. From a site member and friend, I acquired a set of RCBS dies, Lapua unfired brass and some 285gr PRVI bullets. At local gun shows and some retail outlets, I picked up some once fired Norma brass, 231gr and 286gr Norma bullets, 250gr Speer, 286gr Barnes TSX bullets. Also, some custom bullets from Matrix Ballistics that I've since traded off that I don't recall the weights of. For a rifle, I opted to go the
inexpensive route and ordered a full wood model Zastava from Trade Ex. I was
AMAZED at the accuracy with my first few handloads using the 285gr PRVI bullets pushed with top end loads of IMR 4320 and/or IMR 4064. So much so that I haven't tried any other bullets and weights, yet. Also, so much so, that I picked up another rifle, the same but in 7x57 and while at it,
I stocked up on more of the 285gr PRVI bullets.
UPDATE:
The loads that worked well for me with the 285gr PRVI bullet are 54gr of IMR 4064 and 55.5gr of IMR 4320.
