9.3x62 'plans' in motion

^^^^ my vote for picture is Ted riding on the back of a swimming moose while chasing his canoe...
ThreeMileRapids2-2.jpg

Or him dragging the bear.

Do I hear "series"?

OK c'mon now BUM, everyone on here that has met him likes Ted, but let's not get carried away............

Dodgy bastard, huh..........now this would be a classic example of the pot calling the kettle black, me thinks !!!

I think the 9.3 x 62 is a caliber that has long been over-looked by a lot of hunters in North America. We know it's built on a 30-06 case and necked up to 366. I'm looking at one too and hope I can obtain one later in the year. I often wondered why the 366 doesn't seem to be available in a 250 grain bullet. Reason being - for me I'd like to see a 250 grain bullet in a spitzer style bullet. Everything seems to point to the 286 grain bullet... An explanation on the bullet weight for the 3 would be greatly appreciated.

OK I have been known to ask people to pick fly #### out of pepper. And if I was particularly displeased, I would ask them to do that with boxing gloves on. But if we are going to go for a mock-up of a cartridge box for a CANADIAN cartridge, let's use the CANADIAN spelling for CENTRE, not the American MIS-spelling of "center."

And I did think it had been agreed that the new designation was .360 Wagner, not .366 Wagner.

I am not getting my barrel engraved until the debate is finalized. Has anybody asked Ted?

Doug

Hmmm. I did not WRITE "fly ####" I wrote something different that sounds like the word "shirt" without the letter R.

One does not pick fly #### out of pepper with boxing gloves, one picks fly shirt without the R out of pepper...........

For those who wanted clarification, this is a public service, no need to thank me for it.

sorry at the beginning the 9.3x63 has nothing to do with a 30-06 case. remember this is a german case ... that doesnt mean you cant do one from 30-06 ...

the origin bullet weight was between 285 and 286 grains for one reason : african german settlers had to deal with elephants, buffalos, rhinos and lions and the section density was perfect with the cup and core bullet ... the TUG in 293 grains came later. those guys cant afford the british mauser rifle in 375hh so they were using this wonderful caliber.

if you need light bullet a 232-235 something grains Oryx will fit the bill but when you know your trajectory the 9,3x62 with heavier bullet is not that much a big deal.

the 250 nosler accubond can be your answer too.

enjoy your 9,3 ...
remember there is more than just the x62 ....

In discussions with -Savage-, I 'believe' he was going to bring it up at their discussion.

Idea: Doug, start a poll and get it decided one way or another, and on the record by popularity.

Say it isn't so;)!!

NEVER, NEVER HAPPEN Johnn, that's just BUM expressing his distaste for me, he hasn't liked me since I joined this lofty forum.........personally I just think he's jealous of me cause I'm better looking, better educated, better hunted, better heeled, and a better lover than he is, with a bigger d!ck. But of course that's just my personal and biased opinion.......:p:p:p;);):stirthepot2::stirthepot2:

;)I didn't think so:). He scared the h**l out of me a while back when he told me:eek: my #### would fall off because I put a scope on a couple of my lever guns. He musta' been just joshin' though. ;)It's still attached.

Chill Doug, chill, we'll get it all worked out, your say has as much weight as anybody else's here. Now do tell us what your vision is........I thought we had agreed on 360 Wagner as well and BUM was the other vocal proponent of this rename so maybe he could "harp in" with what he remembers the final outcome to be. As far as Canuck vs. US spelling, if it upsets you we can use the Canadian/French version of the word. I'm not really much of an advocate for the French spelling of words but if it matters to you we can change it.

Well, it is not set in stone and easily changed. "Center" to "Centre", As form the company name "Great White" or "Why Not"? The official designation is still up in the air. I think 366 works, "sixty-six" always had a good ring to it. As for the bullet type, I did not use the word Matrix as it's a brand name. Bonded semi-spitzer or bonded core bullet?

Personally I'm a proponent of the ".366 Wagner" designation rather than the ".360" designation... Rolls of the tongue better and is "truer." As for the name attached... I would far rather see "Why Not" than "Great White"... "Why Not" has a story behind it... "Great White" is a phrase attached to almost everything up here and is unremarkable in every way... JMO.

Edit; As the roots go back to the North West... I also support the English spelling of "CENTER."

Man, I am glad I happened upon this thread, fun, I am just a shmuck who liked the 9.3x62 and bought the cheapest ( all I could afford) husquavarna I could find,,from tradex of course, receiver is scratched up from a screwed up scope install and the stock is repaired from a previous crack and is ugly (now) toboot but somewhere to start. So That first pic I saw was cool, I would stick close to that and .366 sounds cooler than .360. Roll off the tongue or not. The only thing rolling off my tongue now is a nice Churchill stoggy and glass of pebble beach single malt! ;0)
I really don't know much about Ted, except for the thread about that" tiny" black bear he shot and the pic of the moose his wife shot, that was about the best thread I have ever read here. Must be a great guy and couple. So I think stick at least mostly with your first impressions, usually best! Hope I get my .366 up and running to take a moose,,, or bear soon!
Cheers Bob

I AM chilled, thanks Doug, it is minus 26 here this morning. And making more good ice for ice fishing! :dancingbanana:

366 vs 360, I suppose who cares? (Like the one oddball cartridge for which I hope to find a rifle, as noted in my signature line). The spelling of "centre" is British English, in other words Canadian English and as it happens is also how the word is spelled en francais. (Of course that word does not appear in the French term for centre-fire cartridges, "cartouches a percussion centrale").

And I suppose all of this is just stirring the pot in any case. :stirthepot2:

I sense a bit of cabin fever across the country...................
