I shot 2 groups of 5 286 gr lapoua factory rounds all within a 1"
Then I fired 2 5 shot groups of my handloads again firing a 1" group
I had let the gun cool for 5 minutes between groups
Then for some reason there was a click instead of a bang 5 out of the next 15 shoots misfired
The primers looks like it could be a light strike from the firing pin indicating perhaps excessive headspace when barrel heated up?
Another peculiar thing is my starting load indicated pressure signs and choreographed at 2300 FPS
The rest of the factory loads fired with out a hitch even when the barrel was hot
The load was;
250 gr Woodleigh RN
new lapoua brass
56.5 grs. IMR 4064
Winchester standard primer
bullet was crimped in the groove
The gun is a m96 Husky commercial action with a 50mm barrel( 19.5")
anybody have any other theory's
Maybe factory brass was oversized?
