Here is my Remington 1100.

The gear permanently installed on the stock; Dave's Metal Work Eazyloader, Jack West Carbon Fibre Youth Stock (13" LOP), sling mount, adjustable recoil slider and enlarged safety.

All I need to do to finish it is sand the adjustable pad slider to fit the stock properly and add a high vis follower, but it's usable at this point.

I use this gun for sporting clays with the 28" barrel (removable chokes) and removal of all the shell carriers.






And for the tactical/IPSC style built besides finishing the stock, all I need is a mini red dot (I think a burris fast fire 3 for Christmas). It has 20.5" barrel (removable chokes to be added), shell carriers, a 3 round extension (plugged/pinned at 5) and heavy duty cocking handle.





Not too bad for my first build, and it works very well in pretty much any arena.

Nice job. I've always liked the 1100, and you don't see too many tact out.
I'm a huge fan of versatile shotgun setups like this, and working on a do-it-all 870 myself.

It wasn't too hard with the help of the internet.

Here is the "how to" I used. It's really good.

I found I was tweaking it at least 4 times, after the initial install, when I was shooting skeet and 5 stand, but now it runs flawlessly.

It makes a huge difference for speed reloads and tactical shooting.

I have one of these on my 11-87 as well and it makes such a huge positive difference. I highly recommend it!
 
Where'd you get the 20.5" barrel? Or if you cut it down how'd you get the bugger to cycle. I have a beater 1100 that I bought for cheap and the guy had the barrel cut to 20". I wanted to build a tacticool semi auto and thought this would be a good platform but the thing won't cycle (or rarely).

I did have it cut down. It cycles heavy loads with no problem, I haven't tried it with light loads yet. Have you tried to get the ports reamed?

^ I want to but down know where to take it. I guess most gunsmiths could do this? Cost is an issue too, not sure how but that would be to get done.
 
This is making me regret not buying a beat up 1100 on the EE for $320 shipped a few days ago. Looks fun.

One problem I have with dreaming up an 1100 build is that 18.5" barrels seem hard to find, and short stocks seem nonexistent, I assume because it has to fit the recoil mechanism?

I had to buy a second barrel, they are hard to find, and then gunsmith it. I'm still not completely done.

Glad it's working out well for you.

I used the same instructions when trying to install mine. I'm not sure where I went wrong. It installs ok. The bolt locks back, but when I activate the easyloader it travels about 1/4" then gets snagged on something. I've taken it apart 4 times and am just not figuring out what I need to do.

That's no good, looks like it is gunsmith time. That sucks.

I took it mine to the range today, it cycles light loads perfectly. Once I get the short barrel tapped for chokes, I'll be using it for some 5 stand to see how it runs.
 
If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost you to have the barrel cut down? I see that you had the sight remounted. I have been looking at this, but the smith I talked to quoted me $200. I thought that seemed pretty steep.

The gunsmith I took it to seemed pretty good, seemed to have a study flow of business in his workshop. He charged me $60 for shortening and tapping for a mini red dot site. No one around here does tapping for chokes. I had my 28" barrel done (removable chokes) for $80 up where my parents live, so when I'm up there next I'll get the short barrel finished too.

In my opinion $200 is a lot of cash that job.

Thanks, thats kind of what I thought. With those prices it makes a lot of sense. That more like what I was thinking. Now I just need to find a smith around Edmonton that will do it for a reasonable price. Your shotty looks great! Hope it runs as good as it looks, keep us posted when you get it out to a match.
