Well
Considering everytime we ship a rifle by courier its at least $70.
I expect those costs are not included in the grand total because they seem considerably deflated to me.
Either way I am very happy with what I would value as a $650 lee enfield. Regardless what the accountants maintain. Mine was on some regimental shooting team. It has been centre bedded and competition tuned just like how the books tell you to do it. Although she has seen at least 20,000 rounds she can still shoot (although she is starting to get tired)......
With this rifle I beat lots of guys running C7A1's and AR15's running tractor beams and optical wire guided missles. However at the end of the day I was uunable to get within the top ten highest scores. I ranked 23rd I think at 206 BCRA service rifle championship. I was the highest score for a bolt action rifle but it was also my first BCRA shoot. I will do better next time. I will be running better gear (my own property). I'm now running an Irish Contract No4Mk2 with PH5C. I have effectively reduced my group by 50% by moving to this rifle - even though she is stock and not match tuned....
In this shot you can see my Ranger Rifle. The bolt knob no longer golds any parkerizing. The rifle is sopping wet but I had properly treated & polished it several times with BLO so my worries with swollen wood was dratically reduced (compared to the other Rangers that were competing). Regardless the rifle moved and re-adjusts to the relative humidity, temperature variations and moisture in the chamber & bore. When the rifle was wet I experienced an 8" rise in vertical POI at 200m. Something to learn from.
