I've been thinking of getting a Browning Mark III Hi Power in 9mm but then ran across some information on a conversion barrel that Barsto sells. It is a 9mm match barrel with three lugs and is made to fit the .40 gun. This would allow a multi caliber pistol with the slightly heavier slide and extra lug of the .40 HP for increased durability. Conversion parts would be the barrel, recoil spring and magazines. The frames are identical for both calibers.

Anybody try one of these? Any recommendations on a good BHP smith in Canada as I have never attempted to fit a barrel?

This may also be a fix to a non-existant problem!

It would shoot but the extraction would be somewhat iffy. I have a 9mm conversion barrel for my XD40 and it fails to extract properly fairly often which is ok for plinking but not for comp use.

I've heard of this, but I believe that it was aimed at longtime durability with HIGH pressure loads.

The concensious seemed to be that it was a solution in search of a problem...

Proper weight springs & a buffer should accomplish the same task for less money...

The money you spend on conversion would go a fair ways toward the purchase of another pistol.
Count with me if you will: 1 pistol = bad. 2 pistol = better. 3 pistol better still.....;)
