Pressures of 9mm +P+ are nowhere near the realm of most .40 S&W...

Geeez...where are you getting this ammo?? lol!
+P+ are in usually in the mid 40k psi, .40 S&W are usually in the 35k psi, same as regular 9mm.

Thanks for that - now I have to do some research ;) - I was talking to a buddy last evening who stated that he saw ammo actually designated "+P" for the first time in 1979 so it was probably out before that. I will do some checkin'...

I had to think for a minute what arthur was - I get it (meaning that I understand, not that I have it)...
 
Since there is not a SAAMI standard for +P+ ammo, my guess is that commercial loads such as Winchester load their +P+ much lower than some of the 70's military sub gun rounds, or at the lower end of the +P+ range, for liability purposes.

You can now check my post on page 2 showing pressures of various rounds. (server is back up)

Hk p7 psp ?

Can I shoot 9mm +p+ or even +p out of my Hk psp p7 m8 pistol ? She has lots of metal and feels pretty sturdy.
 
I know someone mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I just got my Beretta 92FS Brigadier today and the manual specifically states that using +P+ ammo is not recommended for extended use.

That is the SAAMI pressure for a +P load. Their +P+ loads are more of a marketing gimmick.

In one of my earlier posts I guessed that the pressures would not be much higher than +P.

Yes, probably cheaper parts if it is going to the government.

For the unit costs of most of the components in a pistol I doubt anyone would run a speacial line just to drop in a different part unless specifically requested. The old Inglis pistols likely have less than quality steel in them and they have been abused and knocked around since 1944/45.
