At the risk of sounding fudd-like....i would go with a .357 lever....yes i know its not a 9mm which is .356 dia....9mm in a carbine gives you very little extra over a 9mm in a pistol...a 30m1 with a proper bullet is a damn good light unit...

Skorpion Evo. I ran ammo through mine without stoppages that was jamming even a stock Glock 17! I was amazed, good ammo, garbage ammo plus P as long as it says 9x19mm on it it will shoot through the evo. Ergonomics are solid too and HBI makes tons of upgrades for them if you want to make them Gucci. I would absolutely trust them for hard use.
the only problem with your battle proven firearms is getting the magazines that will help you to go with.
unless in your group you have all the same it will be very complicated such a firearms using glock mags may help you a little better ... for our own use in a battle of course.

Having a battle proven pcc and worrying about mags for going into war with are two different things. Anyone here not in the military now and over the age of 30 or is still living I mom's basement has zero chance of worrying about taking on a) zombies or b) the Cdn or foreign army. So why worry about more than a dozen mags

Good rifles for the price. But some of the internals could be better. Cheap extractor can lead to stove pipes when worn, Manual bolt hold open doesn't hold very well,and the recoil spring was allowing a lot of powder blow back visible on the cartridges. Luckily a company called Mcarbo sells improved parts for it. Fixed my blow back issue with a new spring, and replaced the cheap extractor for their better one and it runs flawlessly. Also can not slam magazines into it like an AR that will bend the mag stop and cause stove pipes after awhile. Maybe not a battle rifle but I enjoy mine, and like I said I haven't had an issue with mine personally yet outside of the lack luster manual Bolt hold open, and recoil spring.
I've become a late convert to the Famae SAF-40, chambered in .40 S&W and using metal magazines. The 9mm SAFs suffer from broken polymer magazines - a problem that the harder-hitting .40 version doesn't have. Although I own most other PCCs on the market along with a handful of prohibited SMGs, the SAF-40 is the closest thing to an HK MP-5 that I own (aside from my actual MP-5).
I am personally impressed by angstadtarm MDP -9 - Soft recoil like the MP5 and softer than the APC, but with all the correct ergonomic, less weight and less the bulk.
The only downside is the price tag which is matching both MP5 and APC9

I love mine. It goes with me all over the farm, all conditions. Always reliable, takes common ar 9mm mags and with the .223 conversion gives it far more versatility. It's short because its bullpup and is also NR. It also likely the most expensive option (other then HK). I would absolutely carry this in a "battlefield" with no concerns. I have not had anymore issues sourcing parts it then any other NR black rifles I have and still own.
