9mm pistol accuracy

There are very few members on this board that can out shoot a modern 9mm pistol.

That's pretty much it.

A pistol with iron sights is just not inherently intended for pinpoint accuracy. If you were to mount a scope on it and clamp it in a vice, you'd find out how accurate a given platform is... But most people don't go that far. So most people's interpretation of pistol "accuracy" is just a measure of how well they shoot that particular pistol vs others.

The above pretty much says it all.

That said the PPQ Match and 5" shoot identical groups. Guys who I now, who really can shoot, not me for certain, claim the Walthers are excellent when it comes to the accuracy department. From a rest they shoot as well or better than most I have tried. Their triggers are really very good out of the box. Walther advertises the gun comes with a 5.6 lb trigger and both of mine did.

My Shadow is crazy accurate, until it hears a shot timer "beep". Then it sucks and sends rounds everywhere. lol!

And I noticed it is much worse when the timer is yellow.
I believe my shooting would be better with any other color.

I love the claims of pistol accuracy on this forum!
Only fishing tales could possibly be more ridiculous.

I've seen everything from people claiming 2" groups with a handgun at 25 meters to "sub MOA accuracy" lol horse s**t.

Me if I can put 8 rounds out of my 1911 into a 12" circle in under 5 seconds then it's pistol accurate ;) and I'm talking 10 meters.

O.K. If speed is what we are talking about, that is sights and grips, ie the operator.
I have a Jericho that will shoot into a 1-2" group at 25yd. surprized the hell out of me, at that price point .
I shot bulleye for years and have a old colt with a match barrel that is better, 1 in at 25yrd.but that is slow fire, off hand.
I could not do it , but a old fellow shot a sig 220 9mm of mine into 4 inch target (2x4 squares) at 50yards, off hand, first time he ever shot a 9mm, just show you , it is not the gun, most of the time.
I find some 9mm I can shoot very well, other brands that I know shoot good, I can't do as good as I am not use to the gun -Glocks as I don't shoot them enough .
I like a gun that will keep them in the black on a 25 yrd rapid fire target

P320x5
S&w 1911 e-series
Colt 1911 9mm
P226 elite srt trigger

They have all been very accurate guns for me. I was surprised how well p320x5 was though. Most new guns take me a few reloads to get some good groupings. The p320x5 took 1 mag and it was on par.

A good grip, good trigger and good sights is all i ever want in a pistol

Until very recently, a 70’s era Smith & Wesson model 39 was the gun I shot the best. I spent a decade shooting IPSC with it, and over the years it evolved into a “race gun” such as they were, back in the day. Longer, SS barrel, better sights, machine jewelling of the frame & slide, bobbed hammer, different grips, etc. Many thousands of rounds through it, it won it’s fair share of matches. I’ve never shot 1911 pattern pistols well; grip angle and my wrists didn’t like each other.

I recently bought a Glock 48, and I shoot it every bit as well as I did the 39. Very similar grip angle, single stack dimensions of the grip let me get a good hand position, and it’s balance is very similar.

Maybe the limitation is you the operator?? If 12" at 10m were the best I could do I'd get some assistance or practice more... I've had handguns that would shoot sub MOA at 200m (not service pistols granted) and lots of service grade handguns, both pistol and revolver, that would keep 5 inside of the 10 ring at 25m...

Nice to see a man who knows his limitations:nest:For the rest of us who can shoot, an accurate gun is the way to go:)

Distance, group size, round count and time are all relevant factors in what TB said. You seem to have just omitted 2 of those factors. 8 rounds in 5 seconds works out to .625 splits. Holding .625 MAX split times over 8 rounds and keeping them all in a 12" circle at 10m is better that I'd wager many could do (12" might be a little on the generous side, but still).

Also... What kind of miracle Jesus pistols did you own that could shoot SUB MOA at 200m?? Lol that's a pretty bold claim, that I kind of doubt many will believe without some kind of proof.

With one round groups, I can get sub MOA all day long at 100m :p

Ya but can you do it 2 out of three times. :>)

I would love to see anyone shoot MOA using a 5" handgun. The bolt action, said to be handguns are just smaller versions of rifles. I don't think many would claim handguns are capable of MOA at 200 yards based on the results of bi-poded scoped hand held 18" rifles without a grin on their faces.
