Lol Know how you feel. I am a southerner, but it aint always warm here. I grew up and worked in northern Manitoba. It was cold up there, best part was hardly any wind. The last winter I was there was -45to -50 for lows and -35 for highs. Now down south it may be a bit warmer, but it never stops blowing.
My range to 200 yards is in my back yard. My long range to 900 is a couple miles away. Its a full time job just keeping the shooting bench cleaned out.
Looking forward to hearing teh results. Its always a different when you shoot a wildcat. Twist rates don't always follow suite as usaully your driving the bullets way faster than they are normally driven

Ah well, happy b-day to us. I've been following this thread with interest as I was the Penguin thread. That one still has me intrigued... I have a Voere in 6.5x55, do you think it could take the pressures? I can not shoot the Hornady or Nosler 6.5 premium ammunition in it as it is too hot for it.

G_W........First, do you reload........because the Penguin will never be available in a store. It is a wildcat and means you have to form your cases and load your own ammo.
Both Nosler and Hornady adhere to SAAMI pressures and specifications, meaning that if your rifle will not safely fire their ammunition, then you really should get your rifle looked at by a qualified person. The problem lies NOT with the ammunition.......If, as I suspect this is, a custom barrel and chamber then it is not likely cut to SAAMI specs and I could see where you may end up with problems. Any Voere bolt action I have seen has been of very high quality and depending on it's vintage should easily handle the pressures of the Penguin. BUT...the pressure of any cartridge when handloaded is dependent exclusively upon the loader, so it is impossible to say.

Yes I do reload and have a couple of wildcats already. I just assumed (yeah, yeah I know) that it was an older vintage and not up to the task of modern premium ammo as the bolt was very stiff when firing it. I did load some rounds at the bottom end of the books and there was no problem. As far as I know it is the factory barrel.

You can't say RP with an S behind it. Refers to a dormer dealer that was so disruptive that not only was he banned but his alias was permablocked.
 
fg............what you got there is a 22 cal version of my 234 Penguin..........not exactly but very close ballistically. You should be able to easily make brass from 6mm Rem, just buy the correct dies and run 'em through, nothing to it.
 
Doug - Since you are going to use it in ZA, thread the end of the barrel.
A suppressor will let you shoot more baboons per sitting.
Lots of fun for about $300.

5/8" x 24 is as big as they normally go but with your abilities and "get 'er done attitude" an 1" to 5/8" adapter shouldn't be an issue.
Just make sure the run out is in spec - lol
