A 222 Remington

I still own one of the Sako Vixens that Carmichel mentions in the article above, it's still one of my all time favorite rifles.

Hopefully you enjoy your 222 SuperCub, they are a fun little cartridge to shoot.

The biggest problem with shooters right now is bullet shortages. I have a pretty good variety, but not a lot of each and those cannot be replaced right now.

I hate working up loads for a bullet that will be N/A in the future, either by shortages or discontinued.

Finally had mine out last weekend. After sighting, copper bore cleaning and a few fouling shots, I shot these sets. Early in the load work, but is looking promising.

I'd like to see those couple flyers join the others. :)

Right on. Lots of promise and a great start. Seating depth made a difference in group size for me. Working close to the lands.

52 gr Hornady's worked the best in mine. - dan

Much to my shame, I once owned a 1st gen Model Seven in 222 and sold it.

It was in fine condition and a good shooter, but I was convinced I needed a 223 or 22-250 instead. <dum dum>

I've bought and sold a lot of rifles over the years. That one is in the top 5 I wish I had kept.

Hindsight is 20-20. As well as my varmint bdl in 222, I have a 600 in 222 for a walk about varminter. Great little rifles. - dan

Back in the '70s these were the rifle of choice for fox and coyote and ground-hog in southern Ontario! Great cartridge!!

This was the middle stepping stone cartridge in South Saskatchewan. Gophers with 22s ad nauseum. Fox, jackrabbit, magpies and coyotes taken with the triple deuce. And preferably in a similar bolt action to your deer rifle. Once deer tags filled it's once again calling season for this varmint cartridge.

There's a website out just for 222 shooters. It's a small one man show but does have some things of interest.

Scoped, sighted in and load developed the old Sako yesterday. 22 gr Rl7 and a 40vmax. 3550fps and shot great.
Went for a drive today to my favourite badger patch.
