My only 3006 is a garand.
I have a stainless 308 Ruger MK II and wanted to pick up a matching gun in 3006 just for the heavier bullet stuff, but am now indecisive...buying it just to buy a new gun, I guess.

It's a good cartridge but there are plenty of others.
The others critics are right.

No use for a 30-06, shotgun/black powder only area.
I don't own one, have never owned one......
That said, it's never been intentional not to have one, there has just always been something more interesting around.

I have two .30-06's that I've had for a few years.... a Rem 700 BDL with 22" barrel and a Win Model 70 XTR with 24" barrel.
I recently added a nice BSA sporter, done on an Enfield P17 action.
Would like to add a nice shape M1 Garand to the collection at some point, too.

I use my Pre 64 Winchester 06 for everything.There is no better cartridge in my opinion.

Of course...With the help of the 30.06, and the 7.62x54R.
And lest we forget that the 8 mm Lebel in WW1 which was used to soften the Huns up until the Brits stepped in.

I've got a Model 1917 non sported that I bought of the EE a few years ago and love it. Recently bought a S&K mount for it and put on a Burris fullfeild II and use it as my fair weather hunting rifle. I'll be buying another rifle in 30 06 and put the scope on it sometime soon as a hunting rifle and leave the M1917 for the range.
