A bad experience at Epps

This reminds me of an article that I saw recently on Marke####ch, where research was coming out that showed that social media, Facebook in particular was changing how car dealers and manufacturers dealt with lemons. They were usually swept under the rug, they dragged their feet, they would do anything but replace the car. Now due to the viral nature of the internet, social media, BBS like this one, you can't get away with what you used to be able to. The tables have turned...

This in particular, will come back to haunt older, less tech savvy businesses, and a maw and paw gun store is a prime example. I for one couldn't be happier.

BTW a restocking fee should never apply to normally stocked items. Special order, arguably so, but regular items a 10% fee? Are they gonna mark that item down 10% to resell it? Yeah, right. No thanks. I'll shop elsewhere

I picked up a used Winchester 100 converted to 6-284 from them a few years ago. There was problems with the registration so I had to go back a week later
to pick it up. When I saw it originally it had a scope mount and a proper 284 mag . When I went to pick it up they had lost my guncase ( which they had insisted
I leave the week before) They finally found the case and basically told me it was my fault for leaving it. When I mentioned it had a scope mount they said it didn't
but they would sell me a used one. First time I went to use it, it malfunctioned. Found they had put one of a 308 mag in it. Haven't set foot in the store since.

Nice first post.

Deleted my big b___h off as there are enough on here. i as well have had poor service more as of late, after reading this it all seems more common then i thought, that being said ive made a number of purchases and seeked good advice from this store over a number of years, the other day however i left and took my buisness to another local shop as a sales rep didnt even listen to my needs and simply tried to sell me a product that would have left me in the same illegal dilema for which i was trying to resolve. But who cares eh hes not the one the game warden will ticket. Possibly just a bad day? Thats what id like to think.

Sincerely hope you resolve your issues, best of luck.

Almost 100 replies and 3000+ views, this is absolutely disgusting customer service! Epps should just take their banner off this website cause after reading this no gunnutz will be giving them any business!!!! They better clean this up for all these disgruntled customers or just close their doors!

Funny how some people think that because they belong to a website of perhaps 5% of the gun owners in Canada that every gun store is just one negative thread away from boarding up the windows. I am going to guess that mabey the people who run Epps are at home, with their family and not wasting an entire evening watching a thread like some of you. Have some of you ever gone a entire day doing something productive other then feeding this peanut gallery?

The only thing I get out of this is a good laugh out of stupid posts like the one above on how they should just close their doors because 1 person had a bad experience and shared HIS version. Keep it up and I might have enough peanuts to make peanut butter.

My guess is that their store will be filled with customers tommorrow (less a few whiners) and there will be 300 replies and 10000 veiws all from the same 30 people who running back to their computer every 5 mins and refreshing their window to see if anyone else cares enough to post while crying like babies "wwhhhaaaa why doesnt epps respond to our fourm!!!" And EPPS? THEY ARE TO BUSY AND DONT CARE ABOUT ONLINE BAND WAGONS THAT MEAN NOTHING IN THE REAL WORLD. Move on already you are not going to change anything.

Wow tough crowd! But does seem like their is a recurrent theme here. Gonna be interesting to see what their reply is going to be...

Nope never. We all just sit at home like pathetic losers. But wait a minute - is that what you're doing?

Maybe this thread will help the op get a refund or exchange or whatever makes him happy

I am - and will never buy one of their rifles. I can't believe someone who machines these parts would consider them acceptable and wouldn't scrap them. Those messed up parts should have been tossed. Zero excuse for keeping them and that person (or persons) who made them and then whoever was involved in assembling the rifle afterwards should be fired. Complete FAIL all the way down the line. I have zero confidence in their work.

You bought a Chippa, what did you expect? a Winchester? If your stupid enough to buy a $1000 item without even glancing at it, how is that Epps fault? You should have read the fine print before you bought it.
Do you think Epps is going to open every single box they get?

It's the opener of deer season, don't you think they got more important business to attend to that a whiny customer? like maybe serving customers that come in to see what they are buying.

Go to CT and buy a file, I can see what is wrong with the dovetail in the pic, looks like a simple fix.
Jason at Gunco can probably fix it for next to nothing.

Iam damn sure they rely on online business from this website or else they would never pay the yearly fee for a banner a online banner, and I personally love loading this thread every 5 mins to see a new post, I can't sleep tonight and ill.be dreaming of this and tomorrow it will control my life and take over my marriage! Anyways if you read the complete thread thete this seems.to be an onging issue with 15 or so people posting very poor custom service from this business. WOULD YOU LET THIS GO AND TAKE IT AS A LOSS NO YOU WOULDN'T! LET IT BE KNOWN TO ALL THE GUNNUTZ WHAT KIND OF BUSINESSES ARE OUT THERE!

Epps is not the only firearms retailer with that no-return policy. The problem is not the policy but that people aren't aware of the policy before they buy. It is the buyer's responsibility to know the policy before he buys and unfortunately it's too late to ask about the return policy after you already bought defective merchandise.

You paid with MasterCard. Check with them about returning a defective item that you just purchased. Depending on MasterCard policy Epp's may have to take it back and delete any restocking fees. I had a similar problem at a retailer (not gun related) with a big ticket item I purchased with my Gold Visa card. Visa took care of me and fast. Can't see why MC would be any different....

this is true. id let my credit card company and their lawyers do the work for me. When paying with a cc you are insured and dont have to put up with bs from stores.
