I thought was considered a loaded firearm, I'm sure I saw this somewhere. Please help.

TIA

I am trying to think of where I saw this (maybe BC hunting regs) but a loaded magazine wholly or partially inserted into a rifle was considered a loaded firearm.

Same with the old trick of one round half inserted into the loading gate.

It's the firearm that is considered loaded in this case not the magazine.

A firearm is considered to be loaded if it has a cartridge in the
chamber or in a magazine that is attached to the firearm.
A muzzle-loader is a gun that is loaded through the muzzle.
A percussion muzzle-loading gun is considered to be loaded
if there is a charge of powder and a projectile in the barrel
and a percussion cap on the nipple. A flintlock muzzle-loading
gun is considered to be loaded if there is a charge of powder
and a projectile in the barrel and the vent is unplugged

Ontario

Is it ok then to have a charged magazine in the same locked case as the pistol? The pistol is trigger locked and the magazine is not in the gun.

If I lay the pistol down on the range bench with a charged magazine beside it, is the gun considered loaded?

TIA

A side saddle is neither a chamber nor a magazine. So guess what ...

A firearm is considered loaded if there's a round in the chamber, or if there are rounds in a detachable, or tube magazine while inserted in the gun, or both.

During transport, a loaded magazine next to the gun in the same locked box is OK to go.

During storage, a loaded magazine may only be found next to a gun if stored in a SAFE or a specifically designed room for firearms storage (VAULT). Keep in mind a metal cabinet is not a safe. So you will need to trigger lock your firearms and keep ammunition in a separately locked container.

How did you guys pass your PAL tests anyway. :D :p I know, you just forget.

Not true. Ammunition can be stored in the same "locked container" as the firearm - doesn't have to be a safe.

Forget it, I'll phone the CFO, and report back.

Don't bother, we already know the answer and its been said several times.

Charged magazines by themselves do not constitute loaded guns. put your magazines anywhere you want when you transport them (just not inserted in your gun).

Side saddles are not magazines, an officer can charge you if they like, but you won't be convicted, at least not how I read the act.

OH MY. Canada is a WONDERFUL place to visit with great people, have been there twice, once to Cold Lake CAFB, and once to the Citadel in Halifax, (for the Centennial) but I'm going to stay in Arizona with my CCW.;)

One wonders if the politicians make laws to protect the citizens or actualy to protect themselves.

I am still trying to figure out why a handgun with one barrel length is fine, but one with a shorter barrel is EVIL.

Oh by the way, I have paid Milarms light bill more than once:D (Long Lee's) and two EAL's
