A few questions about proper IPSC equipment

you've got me there, the Ghost and holsters like it do afford a lot more range of adjustment than the Bladetech. For me, personally, having used them all, it doesn't make enough of a difference to justify using one. I've broken 3 Race holsters because I hammer down on the gun to get my grip before the draw, with the Bladetech all I do is push my pants down (cuz my belly doesn't do that enough already), with a race holster I break things. I'm told the DAA will suffer my abuse with no problems, but I haven't bothered to get one yet. If you've got the money though, that's the one I'd get, they seem to be much better built than the competition.

will find out soon if the DAA stands up to the abuse once my open gun is done since I have the same draw style

You're not wrong. (You rarely are.) For me the primary difference in speed is with the Ghost, I have more control over the position and angle of the gun compared to the Blade Tech.

I don't find this makes any measurable difference. Unless there is some form of retention the draw time from either a Bladetech or a race holster will be about the same. Out to 15m its no more than .05-.10 and that is likely the difference in sight aquisition between an Open gun and an iron sighted gun. I use a raceholster for my open gun simply because it don't fit in any other style. But I have tried a variety of holsters over the years and there is absolutely no difference between them. I prefer a holster that supports the muzzle, I don't like the models that just lock around the trigger guard like the DAA or Ghost, just my preference. When I'm not driving a racegun I prefer a Bladetech or Blackhawk CQC/Kydex type holster.

I prefer the Blackhawk to the Blade Tech.
The Blade Tech is made of Kydex which is much more rough on the finish of a gun.
I've been using a Blackhawk Serpa with my HK P30-L for the last 18 months and cannot find any wear on the pistol.
A friend of mine runs a Blade Tech with a Sig P226 and his firearm shows much more holster wear even though I have many more draws out of my rig.
I know some people claim the Serpa is prone to ND's but I believe if your finger stays out of the trigger guard till the sights are on target there is nothin to worry about.

:agree:

pats correct, there isn't a big difference between the two in draw time. Race holsters with a positive lock are far more secure when the lock is used. If you want to shoot production in the US you can use a race holster, same thing for classic/single stack.
