A few words from Alex Robinson.

...the average gun owner is, like the average anyone, dumb - in fact probably borderline retarded - and angry. But you do not solve that by being dumber and angrier than your target market.

Except, for all we know, the people who buy XCRs are a more discerning breed (it's not everyone that's prepared to plunk down $2,500). Maybe the average XCR owner is in fact much more intelligent and tolerant than they're given credit for...?

I think the XCR is a good rifle with excellent potential. That being said, the rifle is only as good (or as great) as the company that supports it - and with a "RTFM" type attitude like this it doesn't really install a lot of confidence. Thanks, I'll keep my 'flawed' next-gen AR for the time being...

It contains epic phrases of fail like this....
Whoever this Kevin B guy is. He's terribly misinformed. I wouldn't believe a word he says.

Funny how Alex is manly like f**k when he rants at largely invisible, anonymous people across the Internet. No, really. Just ask a fan.

But when customers who paid large jack for his product complain to CSRs, his staff are apparently under strict orders to to regarded their behavior as anything else but manly.

That's right. Not as manly examples of patriotic business savvy, but as whingy, sissy girls waiting for a stern conflict avoiding hang-up.

It all comes off... well, just a bit unnecessary.

Stanley Marcus of Neiman-Marcus summed this issue up best, "There are only two things of importance. One is the customer, and the other is the product. If you take care of customers, they come back. If you take care of your product, it doesn't come back. It's just that simple. And it's just that difficult."

Making your customer base your R and D facility is just asking for problems. He is an example of a guy who would have been better off to just say nothing. I see no upside in his type of posting other than to polarize the reader and lose potential customers.

I think it is a sign of change and good things ahead.

It's a bit of "FU" to the nay sayers who will complain about the short comings of the AR but belittle any attempts to bring new product to market

I also think it's a hallmark to the stress and troubles the company has had to go through to bring a product from scratch to market.

I also think it's good he's showing that business culture is evolving as much as the rifle itself is.

I like that he's basically telling the whiners to STFU. You buy something that has issues, the pursuing snap show will not further you anymore. THIS HAPPENS in every business, just most people, for "good" business sense, won't advertise it.

I'm impressed he's willing to request politeness from customers, second to flawed tech issues, #####y customers must be next.

I'm no where near ready to purchase an XCR, but it's been on my radar and will continue to be. I kind of few Robinson Arms as the glock of rifles. There's just a bit of a difference in how the R&D comes about with bringing the product to market.

I really do hope they produce a rifle that will put the AR to shame. Hopefully we'll see some advancements in the black rifle market.

You've clearly never read some of the threads on this site where anyone dares to say anything bad about the XCR.

The tolerance for different opinions is amazing.

I find his comments about the M96 rather interesting and that the faults of the M96 lay at Eugene Stoner's feet. I am sure if you talk to the US Navy Seal Members that used the Stoner platform during their tours of Vietnam most if not all would agrue it is a far superior platform than the AR 15 .I am sure that RA built their version of the M 96 their were things that were deliberately changed for issues covering patent infringement and manufacturing costs. I find it shows just how arrogant Alex is by blaming failures with M 96 with the original designer ,If one were to believe his claims as being an innovative firearms designer he should have been able to deliver the goods with the M 96.
I find it ironic that he mentions that QC will improve on his product line.Perhaps an on line apology to those that bought the all the previous XCR's that had problems would go along way .How ever given the tone of this letter I am sure it would be projected as the customers fault that the their XCR's and the usage they subjected them too were the real issues .
BTW if you think he has the only innovative QC barrel system think again his system is crude at best will not return to zero and IMHO is a POS .Using a single bolt to hold your barrel securely into your rifle is asking for trouble why not us bubble gum to hold the barrel into the receiver it provides the same if not at least better fit and may be more consistent.

Your statement pretty much works for both sides of the argument unfortunately.
Personally I like all guns. Even the ugly ones. No gun racism here.

Economics 101 kids.

There are four main reasons driving the purchase of anything

1. Quality
2. Price
3. Delivery
4. Service

I have only seen a RA once, and in my scholarly opinion, the gun is of reasonable quality but is nothing special. It is grossly over priced for what it is. The delivery blows. And from the tone of that letter, they have had service issues and if that guy's letter is any indication - things aren't going to get much better in that regard.

Do yourself a favour Alex - STFU and build guns. Let the sales and PR guys do their jobs and stay out of their way because all you are doing is shooting yourself in the balls.

I know it's not very popular but we ##### when people aren't honest and straight forward with us and then we ##### when they are? WTF??
Personally I appreciate his candor, I'm actually considering buying one of his rifles now.

YMMV

No one dislikes the XCR because of its looks. the nay sayers of the XCR always bring up facts and specific experience, but are then dismissed as being, as you said, gun racists.

I don't care about this Alex guy or his letter.
If his product is good and I want one I will buy it.

Am I supposed to base my purchasing decisions on the personality of the CEO's or management of a company???

How would I buy a car or a pair of shoes? Interview the Board of Directors before a purchase??
Come on.!
Over-reaction by quite a few in this thread.

Ciao

Never said the XCR was ugly. I just like all guns even some ugly ones. There are some poor arguments from both sides that's all I'm saying.

guy certainly comes across as a douche, he's not all wrong and it wouldn't stop me from buying his products if they work, but definitely a douche.

He should probably find someone else to do his PR :D
