i'm not really experienced with M14 rifles, but about a year ago I bought a M14 shorty rifle/ammo package and aside from cleaning it and sighting it in, I have done nothing to it. I'm getting ready to start working on it, and I want to get it to shoot under 2 MOA, as a goal but I would like to get it as accurate as possible so I hope it is possible to get it shooting 1 - 1 1/5 MOA (but I would be happy with 2 MOA, and seemd like a realistic goal)
As I have been readinh sticky's & threads, it seems like the first thing that is done for increasing M14 accuracy is a new op guide rod, and shim/tighten the gas system. I was wondering if anyone sells a "M14 accuracy kit" that would include a guide rod, shims, and maybe other easy/cheap updrades that would improve the accuracy ?
If no such kit exists, what would be the best upgrades to do first, and best place to buy the parts ?
I know the cheap flimsy stock should be replaced, but I think I will try to make it more rigid & bed the original stock first to see if it works okay, since I do not want to spend $800 on a chassis.
