a new Ruger 10/22 Takedown

A ruger 10/22 TD was the worst jammo matic piece of steaming SH!T i ever paid for. These look like 800 bucks worth of the same.

strange.
while i dont have a TD a coworker picked one up last year and he loves it, he said he hasn't had one failure with it to date.

with anything mechanical that is massed produced there is always the risk of a lemon, eh?

I picked up one used here on the EE and I'm loving it. Outstanding little plinker with an old Sparq red dot on top. If I was still hunting bunnies, this would be my go to rifle.

The "heavy barrel" takedown is the second one i've owned. Great all around rifles once you clean/tweak them up a bit. Never had any real issues, just that the "heavy barrel" takedown is f'ing heavy compared to the original takedown. :)

I really like the idea of these guns. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to buy one at a reasonable price. But 670us = $872CAD, that might be too high, but its still less than 2/3 of what I spent on my DAR22. If it performs reasonably well, who could complain?

Actually, at today's conversion rate 670 USD=897.5 CAD. And that is a nominal rate from a converter. Bank/credit card rate would be worse and inflate the price over 1,000CAD. That Ruger is not worth it.
I just bought the one below (10/22 stainless manlicher) for which I paid measly $499+tax with free shipping from Bulls Eye. Looks to me million times better than the take down one.

very nice I am resisting the temptation to go buy one.

Still 16 left at Bulls Eye. They are the last to be ever seen. It's a piece of art. An exquisite walnut stock. Like I said before, IMHO the 10/22 stainless manlicher is much better deal than the 10/22 Takedown with a colored fake barrel and costs a half price of the Takedown.

i dont think you could get anymore polar opposite of a takedown than a full mannlincher stock.
its like going to the strippers and all the dancers are amish!

I only recently entered the realm of 10/22 ownership with a deluxe model. Reports and witnessing poor accuracy with the takedowns would make me sceptical.
The one I witnessed was key holing at 10 yards. I have no idea why but something was wrong.
That said, I have only fired 50 rounds of Blazer and at 50 yards, three of four groups while sighting in were under one inch; one shot fell out of the group but I was still learning the trigger(sticking by that excuse).
The next session will allow 100 yard testing. The trigger is around 5.5 pounds but I may have to learn to like it. Not one misfire nor fail to eject/extract.

What sort of accuracy are the takedowns producing?
