Heh, here's hoping the XCR-M comes out sometime this year though!!
(My vote is for the norinco 305, with a quick tuneup she's a good gun, and
.308 is EXTREMELY plentiful)
Me too!
I can't wait to see which calibers you can switch with it.

Those Benelli MR1's look interesting. I wonder what site sponsor would carry those when and if they do come to Canada. Benelli's website indicates that its has a 16" inch barrel wich would make it restricted here i suppose. As for the rumour of it being rebarrelled for Canada, I just dont see that happening for such a small market right off the initial product launch.![]()

$2500 for a 5 shot single calibre 'dead end' is not........(unless it fires 7.62x39, in which case, the ammo costs make up for everything else).

Sweet you can convert it to a lousy round, is this really an advantage?

Why would it change?
Tavor has a barrel length over 18", overall length of 29" and build from ground up as civilian semi auto rifle. it has the same chance of getting it's status changed as SA, XCR or SL8.
back to the topic at hand, seriously think about what you want to do with this rifle, it is no different than building cars, no sense buying and building a rice burner when all along you wanted a classic v8. especially since you are already thinking about "ending up with an SKS that is worth $2,000+ but still shoots like a $250 SKS".
Why not just "test" the waters with an SKS and and a crate of ammo? (it's more fun than you can imagine!)
Sell it in the EE when your crate runs out and buy the M305.... Then, Repeat.... with the next rifle up the chain, when funds permit.
You'll have alot more experience and fun for it!![]()
Alright well I just figured out my tactical non restricted gun! I had to go with surplus 7.62 x 39 just because you can't reload .223 for that and I am gonna do something different for driving tacs anyways! So I have owned a CZ 858 and although it is a good gun, it is expensive to mod, and needs a lot to get where I want it. I also hated having to worry so much about cleaning, as it would suck to find you $800 dollar gun full of rust. So I decided on an sks with a Tapco stock, and duckbill mags! Figure Ill trick it out with stock, mags, and scope mount and scope and if need be I can always swap out that $200 sks under all the kit! I'm excited and as of now the whole deal is gonna cost me about $650 shipped for everything I need!
Unless you just throw your rifles on a blanket in the back of your car, I wouldn't see how it'd be different from other rifles, except for a padlock on the case.I appreciate this thread - was thinking the exact same thing.
I'd grab an AR in a second, but restricted status is just too much of a pain for transport.
