A non-restricted AR-15 alternative

Two questions:

How do you plan to "test" if the chamber is 223 or 556?

What do you expect to happen if it is 223 and you shoot 556 in it?

Haha, well the only way to test it, is to shoot it I guess, but the forum I read stated that in good reason, it's chambered in 556 but stamped 223.. I guess i'm just going on a bunch of peoples word. I might contact Kel-tec to confirm. As for what could happen, I guess an explosion. But i've had multiple guns explode in my hands... I seem to be unlucky (cracked casings, out of battery... FML)

I called Kel tec about this ,last summer. The tech ( Chad) said the SU 16 is chambered in 5.56. But is stamped .223 for export reasons. I was wondering ,if this is the case , then why dosnt RA have to do the same ,with there XCR-L.

Good enough for me! haha, have you shot 556 out of it?

Can you post more pics of the build/parts used?

I'm sure lots of people would like to see them. :)

Here are some build pics.

It sits a tad bit high unfortunately.. I grinded down the top rail as much as I could to get it to sit lower, and it does than it originally did. But unfortunately it doesn't sit flush. Others who have done the same mod have purchased different brand FN FAL handguards (tufforce I think, mine is UTG supposedly) and theirs sit flush.

It doesn't really look like an AR to me but I think it looks pretty good nonetheless. When I first saw the SU I thought it was the fugliest thing ever. I must say, though, that pics of rifles such as yours have gone a long way towards changing my mind. SU's can look pretty good when they're dressed up right. I wish one could dispense with the rivets that attach the stock to the pistol grip, and make that whole pistol grip-to-stock area seem a little less tacked-on.

This is the same direction I took. I didn't want to be "penned in", so I sold my AR " and bought the Keltec. The AR is FAR superior in every way and I like it way more, but it only goes to the Range. So I had to find a "similar" rifle to work with, and the SU-16 seems to be the closest thing out there that actually mimicks the same"feel" . They both have the Same fire power and accuracy. However,..I think the Keltec is WAY overpriced for what you get......but what can you do ?
So here's mine. ReadField scope with Read Lion front end. The Keltec is a little Louder than the AR, and it cycles faster. Not sure why or how, but its a crazy fast shooting rifle. We put it up against the -T97, a nork M4, my 10rnd SKS, baretta x4,ruger 10/22 and the keltec always dumped the mag first, regardless of who was shooting it.

Where did all the plastic keltec haters go?
I remember buying the 22 and 16 and everyone said it was junk.
Even some owners were unhappy with Vault and warranty.
There was a thread with broken receivers too iirc.
Funny how things change.
