A place to talk about Milsurp Prohibs that need to find a home!

Dealing with an estate that includes MG42, Ma Duece, BREN, Thompsons, MP40, etc.

Hate seeing history get welded up :(

Please save them :p

I would also like to pitch in. Arnie’s gun and Archery in PA sask has a live italian breda modello 1937 HMG. These are incredibly rare guns in both North America and Europe. I’m afraid it is going to be welded up solid, gun does not have a tripod but does come with a feedstrip. If one of the 240 full auto prohib owners see this, please save it.

(To save them from being inundated) Checked with them and it was an attempted conversion to semi, parts are missing from the gas system - would take quite an effort to find or remanufacture in my opinion. I'm certainly going to pass, but I'm checking with my contacts to see if anyone is interested at the dead price of 3k.

With apologies to ArmedGinger... if this thread becomes a place for pointers for found rare FA guns, I'll be very happy.

In my opinion the prices the mp40 and Lanchester sold at were very reasonable. I bought my personal mp40 for under that but not significantly... I've posted this picture elsewhere - my german autos (alive and well)

I want the MP40. It'd nicely round out my WWII subguns collection, of a Sten and a Grease Gun. :)

Keep your eyes peeled then - the mp40 are relatively common and you may get lucky at an auction if a regular buyer snoozes (happens often enough - I once lucked into FA M2 carbine and a FA Reising for about 1500 for both) ... and save your pennies .... nickels? ... :)

As an aside, it seems Canadians view the mp40 as the more valuable/interesting gun than the STG - I'm really surprised... to me it's the other way around.

Agreed. I just have a thing for WWII SMGs.

I have actually shot both in FA and the MP40 is super smooth. The STG feels a bit oversized and heavy for the cartridge it fires.

While I am not the youngest 12x holder, I am on the young side for 12x ownership. Eventually all those guns will become available to us. :)

I have reached the stage in my life where I've started to think (just think) of downsizing my collection.
The first one I'm likely to put up for sale would be my M2 carbine. It's 12.2, but nothing special about it.
I think I'll likely offer each of them here before I consider sending them to auction.
My particular passion is the Thompson. I'm always looking for a better specimen.

Everyone who sells FA firearms had better keep
one in their name until they are down to the last one

I'm not either... in fact I'm not a 12.x holder at all if you don't count the now irrelevant 12.7 - so don't count on having less competition as time goes - people get business licenses with prohib privileges.

I found the STG surprisingly handy - it looks awkward but definitely doesn't shoot or carry awkward.

The mp40 is very pleasant - can cut off single and double shots easy, (sort of) aimed from the hip works well just like in the movies...

Good point , thou I would think anyone these day would know that.
But a while back ,I had a minty L1 and a fellow had a poor A1 that he sold to get the cash for mine.
It was the only one he had and I did not know that he did not know.

Interesting thing about this post ,12-2, 12-3 &5 is less of a danger then your AR these days

drm3m did exceptionally well with his sales. Quite frankly, there are very few 12(3)s that I would pay more than $1K for in today's market. And like IDKAY, I am on the younger side at 58 years old. My last 12(3) was a minty 12(3) German G1 that cost me the princely sum of $750. It should be registered as a 12(5), as G1s were manufactured semi-auto, however such errors abound within the registry. Anyhow, prices like that are why the 12(X) firearms are frequently worth "more dead than alive".

If anyone is looking to get rid of prohib milsurps, I work with a museum that would love (and cherish) them. If you drop them off I can even give you a tour of what we have and the work that has been done in restoring and preserving them :)
