While installing rings with the Offset Inserts, I started at 15 inch pounds and rotated from screw to screw. I went to 20 inch pounds and the four screws were torqued.
Three screws on the rings were then torqued to 22 inch pounds but one side would not.
Suddenly there was a “pop” and now there was a gap between the upper and lower rings on that side.
There appeared to be a piece of metal that had broken through.
The rings were removed and a photo taken. The picture is as close as the camera would function but I do believe you can see the problem.
Only one of the three screws will screw back out as shown on the other half of the upper ring in the photo.

Anyone have experienced this problem before? Have sent the info to Burris Customer Service.

Sounds like stripped threads in the rings. Why step up to 22in/lbs? Burris recommends 20in/lbs for the ring tops. Sounds like you may have voided your warranty but never hurts to ask.

Last set of Burris rings I got recently had "Made in China" on the package... Won't be buying any more, but that is probably why they failed on you.

Yes, because we've heard so much lately about that terrible rash of Walmart toaster related deaths.

hey, whatev' man, your funeral.
j/k

the burris rings are made out of steel, you had to crank pretty hard to strip the threads out of yours. I've got 4 sets that ive rotated thru various scopes as I upgraded and never had a problem with any of them.

Funny you should mention that.... My cheap Chinese toaster just filled my house with smoke because the pop up failed to work.
Only rings I've had that pull through like OP or stripped threads were on cheap Chinese rings. Just because these are expensive Chinese rings doesn't mean they are better quality. Chinese metallurgy sucks as much as their QC.

The screw didn't strip, it pulled through the top ring.

Rings arrived but they were medium and not high.
Notified Customer Service and less that a week later a set of High r9ings were received without a request for a return of the Mediums.
For now I don't plan on switching back to the high rings so my lens cover can sit a wait.

I had a set several years ago that the screw head pulled through with normal torque.

I made the mistake of sending them to the USA for replacement and never saw anything again. I should have called first.

imo, burris has excellent CS.

I bought my last set of rings from mystic about a year ago and noticed the new ones come with torx head, cross bolts, vs the regular slotted screwdriver head of the older ones. I sent burris an email about it asking if I could purchase 3 extra sets for my other rings and they sent them to me free of charge.
