A question from one of your Southern neighbors

My wife has been living full time in the US for the last six years; I've been commuting back and forth between BC and Montana for four of those years, and spending almost as much time in Montana as BC during that time.

I love it. Why would anyone assume that another x number of months would change my mind?

Maybe the better question is to ask you how long you lived in the US and where, and why you're so sure everyone would find it inferior?

What makes you think it was you I was referring to, when I said to send us a posting in the hot weather? If you would read the post I think you could plainly see that I was giving a direct quote on the posting from Ian_in_vic, who said he was going to retire in ARIZONA.
I can think of twenty or so, states I have been in, and if you add the time it would amount to years.
However, I am a proud Canadian, with very deep roots in our country and there is no possible way I would change my country for theirs.

Can you show me some proof of this? We are interested in knowing exactly how many Canadians have these permits.

Well , here is an example from General Mackenzie (sp) experience. When the General was issued his permit, he was told by thr the O.P.P. that he was only one of couple of dozen people in Canada to have one. This seems to be told to everyone who receives one, cross Canada.

Anyways, the General goes one to describe how he watched the parliamentary hearings on C-68, and was particularity interested in what an O.P.P. Officer in charge of the permits had to say. He testified to the committee that there were several THOUSAND permit holders in Ontario alone!

I have been trying to find the newspaper article this came from, so far no luck. A letter to the General, now that he is a Senator, may provide more information. I wonder if the committee's minutes are available to the public? I remember Warren Allmand being the chair of it.

You had us going there, for a minute...

It seems likely that there was a confusion of the numbers of Authorizations To Carry issued for the purpose of Protection of Life, and the numbers of Authorizations To Transport issued for other purposes.

The difference may not be obvious to the casual observer, but there is a HUGE difference.

I think you mean Authorization to Carry (ATC) rather than Transport (ATT). I'm trying to imagine transporting to save my life :)

"Hi CFC. Sorry for calling you so late in the evening. Yeah, there's someone here with a gun pointed at me. He's just shot up my bedroom and my revolver is stored in a safe in my detached garage. Get I please get an Authorization to Transport the firearm across the yard, followed by an Authorization to Carry, followed by an Authorization for Urban Discharge. Could I get that ASAP? Thanks."
