A summary of Non Restricted 5.56/7.62x39 Black Rifle Options and Prices

Had a laugh while reading, thank you OP for this hilarious summary.

One question though: in order to achieve the 500kg bench press, do you have to have the SKS:

-physically in contact wih you
-within arm's reach
-mere possession is enough to enable said power

Effectively it works on a He-Man basis, so long as you are linked via ownership to the SKS you will remain absolutely ripped.

Please note, you awe inspiring strength will with AR owners make you about as welcome as a Maxim gun at a Matabale tea party.

Excellent summary! Given that most of these rifles are designed to shoot milspec ammo (especially those in 7.62x39) it would help to know which ones come with chrome-lined barrels. And yes, SKS is king! :)

This is a high level summary. Chrome barrels and other such things like trigger weight, rifle weight, etc etc all add too much detail and this would become a mammoth post. If people want to know a specific detail they can search for it themselves :)

Or you can just BuY a MoDeRN SpOrTeR AlReAdY1!1!!

;-)

Keep an eye out for big news in about 3-4 weeks regarding our lead times.

The problems that I see with this summary:

- It contains some pretty glaring errors
- It is very light on substance on each subject
- It isn't an exhaustive or even remotely complete list

I'd say if someone wants to look at any of the rifles listed, they should take the OP's advice and use their 'google fu'. Also, check out the stickies and weigh the opinions from people that own and have shot them.

.

Feel free to provide linked evidence showing what is wrong and why.

Feel free to add to the list with links to places where they can be bought. NB: rifles must be 5.56/7.62x39, in production and/or readily available. The existence of a rogue rifle or 20 in the country is while lovely for the owners not in line with tge vast majority.

Once you provide this I'll edit the main post.

NB: Internet claims of 2moa SKSs, use of 3 round groups don't count, and accuracy claims mustn't be built solely on $2 a pop ammo with 25x nightforce optics. Ie. Its gotta relate to the majority who put affordable ammo, optics and more on/through their guns.

It's a summary not an encyclopedia with a dedicated volume for each item. Nowhere did the OP suggest that he'd performed exhaustive primary research, nor that he is an absolute authority on the subject matter.

Why do you say that the type 81 doesn’t achieve AK reliability. It’s a genuine question. I read an article that said the Chinese claimed that they fire 15 000 rounds before needing service.
Also I think it’s worth mentioning under Good that they are a smooth firing rifle, due to the long received and the bolt not slamming against the back end. This was to ensure you can control it in full auto when you are 5’ 1” tall and weigh 127 pounds.

I would argue that AK reliability is slightly over rated and comes from the same issues with M16s being thought of unreliable. The first major exposure of the USA to the AKM was in Vietnam, at the same time it's soldiers are given a new rifle and incorrectly told some things (self cleaning etc) and I believe an ammo issue.

Combine that with them facing "A bunch of slant eyed dinks" who have a firearm without said issues in a Jungle environment and ta da an exaggeration is born. The other side has something that works and mine doesn't. I come from the USA! Greatest nation on earth! Surely these peasant yellow farmers armed with something really good if even they can keep it working.

Throw in US Army propaganda to maintain morale "the AKs just for uneducated conscripts" etc and you end up with highly skewed experiences.

To get to the meat of your question. From what I understand (which is very opent to criticism) the Type 81 is not overgassed in the same manner as the AKM. This makes as you say a more pleasant rifle to shoot but in some circumstances can reduce reliability. Does it mean that in 95% of scenarios you will notice a difference? Maybe not.

The other issue is that there is a larger opening into the receiver. While not as large as a VZ.58 for example it is still significant.

The 15,000 round comment is interesting, I'm guessing this is the National Interest article, while they do say this I would put a little healthy skeptism towards it. For example the British Army in regards to the SA80 also claims to have "the most reliable weapons of their type in the world". Having used one for 5 years I say "Doubt".
