I recently got my hands of a very special Mauser Parabellum pistol, a Sport model in 9mm.

From a well known writer on the Mauser Parabellum, 87 Sport pistols were manufactured in both 7,65 Parabellum (.30 Luger) and 9mm from late '72 till early '77 initially because Mauser anticipated a change of gun laws that would allow sports pistols, but prohibit any kind of military style pistols. This law never materialized. Still, the Sport version was a custom ordered pistol for the German market made in extremely low quantity of less than 2 per month till it was discontinued in early 1977.

From various sources, less than 10 made it to North America with the majority in the US wearing the Simpson LTD. import marks under the front of the frame near the disassembly latch. To my knowledge, this is the only one in the country and is free of any import marks.

This particular one wears the "HH" date code, one of the very last of it's kind to be manufactured in 1977.

Thanks guys. I was pretty pumped to find it since the one I've been eyeing is listed on GB at a starting price of USD $8k! For this much coin I could nearly get two Korth combat, tough choice!

I'm glad they improved the sights.
Is this a 12(6)? Looks restricted from the pics.

Yes, the target sights are very very good, they actually give a better picture than my Sig X5-L1 sights. Another nice feature is the two stage adjustable match trigger that can be set at under 2# if needed.

It is restricted, 114 mm (4.5") bbl length.

Not asking what you paid, but curious as to what an insurance/replacement value is on a gun that rare? I have a rebarrelled Luger that I love to shoot. Although I dont love the sights on original Lugers like mine , your gun looks so snazzy and comes with infinately better sights.

Harry Callahan: As usual you have excellent taste and this time so much luck. This is quite a piece. Love the bull barrell. Maybe Luger purists would not agree with me but I actually think it makes it look much better.
Congrats on such a nice score!

Since it's probably the only one in the country it's pretty hard to put a figure on it and unless buying one from the US with our weak currency, replacement is pretty much irrelevant if you ask me.

Since it's not NIB even though I doubt it saw more than 1 or 2 boxes of ammo I'm pretty sure I'll end up shooting a few magazines to see what it can do then I guess it will remain a safe queen and will be kept in it's minty condition.

Thanks for sharing that Mauser Luger.

I was totally unaware that they every manufactured a target pistol like that.

Back somewhere in the late 90s after C68 I saw a rebarreled Luger in a shop. It had a restricted 6" bbl on it and reblued with a gunsmith installed high front patridge target sight with a fully adjustable target rear with wide blade milled into the toggle like that. They were asking too much for my wallet back then, and I have never seen anything like it since.

Will be interesting to see how it shoots.

There's a German shop still make conversions...

Very interesting conversion. That looks like a High Std fluted barrel???

They say conversions for accuracy. Anyone know what you do to accurize a Luger? I have never read anything about that.
