If someone is going to say "no winchester" based on 2 type of 22's, then they don't know how guns work.
Well, y'see, I see it this way; these are problems that I should not've had in the first place. What are the BIG, OLD names in guns 'n ammo, the names you should be able to trust? Remington and Winchester would very definitely be two of them, right? I mean, the local Cr@ppy sells Eley and Lapua, and the Lapua is $7 a box and the Eley is $24 a box - if I was an international competitor, those would likely be good prices for ammo, but I'm not, and the gun will always be more accurate than me, and I don't really see those kinda' dollar signs as money well spent.
So I go with the "good", "name-brand" ammo. I had a box of Vostok once - the cases were black with heavy roll crimps, and I had to pry each one out of the chamber with a pocket knife because the extractor couldn't move them. Serve me right for buying Vostok, I guess, and I don't like sending money to China when people here need jobs so I don't plan on buying any Chinese ammo either. I never had a single problem with CIL ammo, for that matter.
So I buy "Winchester" .22 ammo - for a good price, I was surprised - and it sets a dismal new record for number of misfires out of the box. In two separate lots; and those are the only ammo lots that have ever given problems in our 41. And I buy "Remington" ammo - and the stuff is garbage and filthy and heavily-leads "HER" pistol; I've never encountered leading in a .22 either, not even with that Vostok stuff.
And I should buy more ammo, of any type or calibre, from Winchester and Remington?
I think not. These are the name-brand boys, and they sold me crummy stuff; their reputation is shot with me. I'm well-prepared to pay extra for reliable ammo, and I expect it from those particular brand names; I am not prepared to spend money on trash, and it's being brand-name just makes me madder.
So, no Remington or Winchester.
