Absolutely ignorant

Generally I find stepping off the road eliminates 95 percent of hunters. Walking half an hour eliminates another 4 percent. Add another half an hour too that and there will be no one. Or you can find thick stuff close to the road, one of my favourite spots is thick and steep and right off the road. In the last 10 years I have never ran into another hunter there and have seen only 1 set of tracks. But I can hear vehicles go by all the time.

Tried going way off the road, for that last leg. The part of the woods you could see from the road was so steep I had to grab trees to climb it, and at the bottom was a swamp. I hopped grass clump to grass clump to cross that. Some goof still followed me.

I'm not sure what the problem is here - this sounds like a guy complaining that he didn't get to run his own little kingdom on public land. What am I missing here?

There's nothing you can do about it. Like it or not, putting tracks on a trail doesn't make it yours. Hanging a tree-stand doesn't make it yours, parking a truck across the road doesn't make it yours, and putting up a sign saying its yours doesn't make it yours. You've got a fighting chance if you walk in so far that only an equally crazy guy will see you, but if he does it still isn't yours.

^^ Whoever said this above was very wise :)

Sounds like you didn't read very carefully or perhaps lack comprehension skills. I had several "hunters" follow my obviously fresh tracks, and interfere with my hunt. I wouldn't have cared if they were in the area, but they crossed the line.

Edit: I see you're from Toronto. 'Nuff said right there

My father in-law and I have exclusive permission on private land & one year, I climb into my stand to find it full of blood & my chair had been slashed....... Some people just have no respect or no brains! :(

Hmmm, this is probably one of the guys who was following you! ;)

Sounds like public land hunting to me! I'd move further into the woods if you're looking for privacy. Or get permission in a farm field. Its a dill hole move walking up into someone else's stand but there's SFA you can do about it. Just need to get into some terrain. Most of these types don't seem to like getting too far from the truck or quad.

Buy some land, post no tresspassing.....problem solved! I think its human nature to follow tracks, or paths, or roads. And this was public land right?? If you're going to hunt public land close to a populated area don't act surprised or be pissed when another person shows up.
As to who is being ignorant, that is a matter of view....without being there, I won't make judgement.

Not my human nature. We were atv'ing/hunting/etc a few weekends ago in a heavily trafficked public hunting area. We spent a lot of time finding the odd trail we could go down that didn't have fresh tracks. Why would I go down a trail in hunting season that's got fresh tracks? Clearly I'm going to interfere in someone's hunt. Yes, I can go down the trail. Should I go down the trail is another matter entirely.

Same thing with putting an atv at the trail head. I would probably avoid that trail if I can.

It seems that there is an awful amount of retardism when it comes to hunting. Probably need some paintball landmines. Great fun.

You've come to the wrong place to complain, many here would defend someone for blocking your way while you are trying to take a picture of your kid with Buckshot and Benny the Bear. Because courtesy in no way trumps legality.
