Accutrigger Malfunction

your not depressing the center of the trigger safety all the way down before your glove hits the actual trigger. so no it's not malfunctioning it's working exactly as it should.

Accutrigger sear engagement is also pretty minimal. If the notch is dirty it can cause the accutrigger safety to trip and engage as it is supposed too, but it's very sensitive so any gunk in there will interfere with proper engagement.

I had the same issue in a match of all places. Sucks. Once the area was cleaned no more problems, no spring tension required. Now, having said that I have switched to a Rifle Basix SAV2, and it's even better than the accutrigger.

I will concur that it can be a frustrating experience. I sold my 10BA because of it. Nothing I did could rectify the issue. At the time, I thought it was just me. Funny, it would seem that all Accutriggers were not created equal as I haven't had a single "purpose designed" malfunction with my MKII BTVS .22.

Haven't had any trouble what so ever with mine but if I did I'd swap the trigger out before getting rid of the rifle.

I have 3 savage rifles with accutriggers , 2 are the regular accutriggers and one is the target trigger. I have shot these rifles in all weather conditions from +30 to -30 with and without gloves on and they have always worked flawlessly. I also have them set to as light of a trigger pull as you can get them.

This only supports my assertion that not all of these triggers were created equal. I wonder if it's QC related?

as I said in my earlier post that I have never had one of mine lock up. So I experimented with my 3 accutrigers to see what it takes to get them to malfuntion. I did manage to get them to lock up but it took alot of side preasure to do so . So in other words if I sqeezed the trigger I had no problems but if I pulled the trigger sideways (or at an angle) it would fail to fire.

In the case of my 10BA, if I looked at it the wrong way it would lock up. It was almost comical. Here I am at the range trying my hardest to close the bolt as delicately as I could, making extra effort to ensure there's isn't even a slight side movement in my trigger finger, etc... and yet, the damn thing would lock up 50-60% of the time. I also set the trigger to a much heavier setting to get it to stop, but to no avail. The more I think of those days, the more I fume over that POS trigger. The rifle was so fine, and perhaps I should have just purchased a half-decent aftermarket trigger, but after spending $2K for the rifle, it was so hard to motivate myself to shell out more $$ for a trigger that simply worked!

The accutrigger is a major joke. It locks up so you have to rotate the bolt up and down to be able to fire. This is not a safety feature it is a flaw. It is supposed to prevent the trigger from discharging the firearm unless the the blade is first pulled. But if there is any lateral and rearward movement it renders the firearm useless until the bolt is rotated. I have tried this on over 50 of these now, and only two out of those worked properly. Sure, the trigger has a lighter pull than savages regular trigger, but I would never trade off reliability.

Put a good trigger group in it and never look back.

Sadly, rotating the bolt didn't help much at all for me! You are right, Savage are ruining a good product with that joke of a trigger. Can you imagine being in a combat situation and being told that you can't wear gloves, and that you can't be swift with the bolt throw, or even microscopically shift your trigger finger from side to side, or even be nervous? -- 'cause the rifle will fail to function!? I suspect no military in the world would look at a set-up like that!
