Accutrigger

Depends on the rifle, but anywhere from $50-120 for a trigger group. I recently bought a Timney for my m96 and it took only minutes to install. I'm surprise how easy it actually was to install. I paid around $70 tax/shipping included from Western Gun Parts.

Sharp Shooter Supply makes an excellent trigger and I installed one on my Savage long action rifle. They ship direct to Canada, and it wasn't too hard to install or adjust, just follow the steps.

A friend told me of a problem he was having with an Accutrigger.

If you trip the trigger, prior to tripping the middle bit, it becomes a pain in the butt to recock the mechanism.

Mebbe it's just me, but the idea of having to fiddle about , opening the bolt, while the firing pin is restarined by something other than the sear itself, seems a little cockeyed.

After I was told about this, I fiddled with the trigger demo unit in a gun shop.

Made me think a good quality aftermarket trigger , that can't be made to "half" go off, was a better bet.

Cheers

I have 2 Savages with accutriggers and love them to pieces. Never had a problem.

I have had quite a few Savages with Accu-triggers, never liked them much at all. They are not for everyone...

On the one Savage that I have left, I took the Accu-trigger off and replaced it with a Timney and am very glad I did.

I have an Savage with accutrigger and I really like it. I understand they are not for everyone but here is where I get concerned. The 2 part trigger is supposed to give you better feel as well as being a safety feature. You have to pull both trigger parts to fire the gun. If you pull the main trigger first it locks out. If your buddy is tripping the trigger before the middle bit, to me that would mean he either doesn't understand how to use the accutrigger or he would have accidently discharged a gun with a regular trigger and the accutrigger saved him from doing that. Maybe I am missing something.

Yeah. You're missing the part where it "can" happen.

The guy is experienced, and a good shooter. He has only had it happen a couple times, while settling in to shoot. Got the trigger, with the pad of his finger, while bearing down on the trigger. He understands the Accutrigger just fine.

I figure that, if they could go to the trouble of building the trigger the way they did, they could have designed and built it so that it would not trigger at all unless the center portion was fully depressed.
Or at least provided a lever to be able to reset things without having to muck about with a live round in the bore, and the trigger mech hung up somewhere between fired and not.

I'll take a nice crisp trigger, without the other parts, thanks.

Just bought a cheap Savage 111 package and it doesn't have an accutrigger (shoots excellent too, by the way).

The trigger is fine, good break..and little or no creep. I'll put on a Basix or similar if it starts to bug me...but as a moose gun I don't see the point.

Add me to the list of users that is less than impressed with the Accutrigger. The very design & function turns me off. I much prefer a good, single stage, fully adjustable trigger. Regards, Eagleye

I was at Wholesale Sports looking for a 17 hmr or 223 rem and noticed in their catalogue that the top of the line Savage tactical rifles did not come with accutriggers, but instead the Sharp Shooter Supply single stage trigger.

To answer your question. The accutrigger will not fit older Savages but after friends with older savages tried mine they were heading for the gun store until they realized they could adjust the older triggers. It is not easy to safely adjust these unless you know what you are doing so maybe take it to a gunsmith.

Not all Accutriggers work as advertized, but mine does. It's the hunting one and it went all the way to down to the min. It's on my F-class. But the SSS is considered the best of the aftermarkets, and Fred's wife ,Lisa, is nice.
