That's the problem I have with the ACR it's not a change from an AR15 it's derived from it

The XCR is a true unique and different design. In my opinion a much better and more reliable design then the ACR

I say XCR all the way

I said you're basically getting a next-generation "AR"; I never said it was derived from one. In fact, aside from the trigger and barrel the ACR has absolutely nothing in common with the AR.

Can you elaborate? If you have owned and used both platforms, can you please share some more incite? I haven't owned either.

Yeah, I completely missed those videos. July and August of 2010 could certainly place this as an early production model. All the ones imported into Canada were later revision models.

I'm not going to really comment too much on the videos themselves except to say that the user comments are really eye-opening... there's almost unanimous agreement that his FTE's are due to lack of lubrication and/or failure to properly clean and maintain. I hope we're not holding this guy out as the ACR poster boy (some highlights):

"YOU sir,are having failures due to YOUR failure to clean the weapon."

"God, I never want to find myself at the same range as this guy... he has no sense of range safety"

"I agree with everyone in here you are a moron after 4 years in the marine corps I know to clean my f**king weapon system you f**king douche get the carbon off lubricate the bolt go get a rookie .22 lr rifle and leave the real guns to the smart people"

"it's not a miss feed its failure to eject clean your weapon check the mag and use your head i swear you should have to be able to pass a common sense test before owning a firearm"

"and clean your damn rifle. i can hear the dirt in the bolt as you pull it back. no oil or nothing seriously if i had a gun like that i would clean that thing and service it every day"

I could go on, but I think we get the point... My ACR is totally fine. Never had a FTF or FTE. Nothing loose or rattling around, either.
 
and you have never had to use l*****e either just like my XCR which is a later model no failures to feed no failures to eject etc etc etc...

This is not to say that either rifle is without its "quirks", either. The positioning of the safety selector and fixed pistol grip on the ACR are really "love it or hate it" features. The ACR also gets knocked for its weight and quality of components, but in reality it's fairly well-balanced and despite being a Bushmaster product everything is first-rate.

The single largest con with an ACR now is unfortunately, availability. Whether we'll see them in Canada in any quantity is anyone's guess, so these may very well be relegated to "niche" status (at least in the foreseeable future). The new lighter barrels that Bushmaster announced has certainly perked interest.

Ultimately the ACR-2 (military version) is probably the "must have" version, but all indications are that this will never be made available commercially.

Yes, it appears Remington has built a much improved ACR but has chosen not to sell to civvies. I remain hopeful that BM will take Remington's lead with respect to weight loss up front. A lot of posters on US sites believe that Remington will have to relent on their no civvie stance so as to achieve a better return on their investment. If they did, I'd definitely contribute to their balance sheet :D
