I am wondering how the NR acrs such as from arms east are in respects to the weight and balance compared to the xcr and ar? I'm debating an acr vs modern varminter.

Even with a Herron barrel with integral flash hider to reduce length/weight, it is still heavier than an LMT piston rifle with a 16" heavy barrel. With a medium contour/threaded 18.6 barrel they feel as heavy/bulky as a swissarms 20" rifle.

IF the modern varminter proves to be as reliable as a good AR, I'd go with that. I'll wait for the reviews first.

Our barrel is true Government Profile (.625") under the handguards, exact same dimensions under the handguard as the standard ACR barrel. It is the same weight as the stock ACR barrel + the 2.75" of barrel to bring it to 18.75". It is neither medium nor heavy profile. It is lighter in weight and profile than any other ACR barrel we have seen for sale in Canada or anywhere else.

Our barrels represent premium quality barrels, custom made for us by the same OEM manufacturer that provides certified milspec 4150 CMV barrels to the absolute top names in the AR15 world. They are the only purpose built chrome lined, non-restricted length ACR barrels available anywhere.

Finally, we have new NR ACR rifles on route to us presently. The rifles shipped about a week before Christmas and we expect them over the next 7-10 days. This shipment is the last shipment or ACRs secured at BM's special pricing of approx $600USD below standard MSRP.

Good to hear that Armseast use an M4 type profile barrel. That would keep the weight decent. Regardless it is a heavier rifle due to the large ratchet handle.

Had an XCR-L keymod, sold it after having my Herron Arms ACR with a Bartlien barrel with a .223wylde chamber. It shoots like a lazer and handle like a dream even though it is noticeably heavier in the front.

I have a MV coming, but I honestly think that dollar for dollar the ACR is hands down the nicer rig. The reasons for me thinking this are as follows:
1) ACR is a proven design, and has a papertrail to prove it. Its got accuracy reports all over, and has time proof that they run reliably, meanwhile the MV is a scaled down version of a platform that borrows the mechanical design features from the proven AR platform. However, just because it uses the same basic principles as an AR platform, doesn't mean it is sure to be as accurate or reliable as an AR platform as we have seen with acuasations made about the MH. The MH is nice, I like mine, dont have enough time on it to comment on accuracy as I have been battling scope issues (a new scope might be in need) and I have not had any issues with reliability, but have read negative reports on both (still doesnt dash my hopes but the fact is the platform is still very new!).

2) ACR has quick barrel change which aids in quick caliber change. At this time you wont even be allowed to think about caliber changes in the MV if Rick had his way, and he isn't interested in offering anything other then .223wylde in it.

3) ACR has trigger upgrades. You are not stuck with a factory 3lb Timney single stage like the MV.

4) ACR's now are not that heavy if your careful of barrel selection and the new CL-1 handguard by Nexxus Tactical is making them even lighter, to the point I bet it will be the same if not lighter then the MV.

5) Storage/Transport size. The ACR stock folds, leaving it around 28" and barrel barrel can be removed making the longest piece the barrel at around 20" with the muzzle device if you wanted to break it down shorter.

To me all things considered, the ACR is the clear winner if you can get one at AEI's sale price. Just know that the tri-rail enhanced handgaurd is going to be the wedge that makes you hate it. After you swap it you should be more than thrilled.

Thanks. Just to say, no tri-rail aluminum handguards on these, these are the "Standard Folder" with the plastic BM/Magpul MOE handguard.

Yup, that would run you around $700CDN, or, the cost of a barrel conversion + $100 :)

I'll be running one of these thanks, $75 landed, and yes the guys on the ACR form have tested with 200+ round dumps and they haven't melted:

It's a PTS (Airsoft) version licensed by Magpul.
Look it up on Redwolf Airsoft.
It's the 'long' version and dudes in the states have had good success with em.
Took about 12 days to land straight from Hong Kong.

Ya I have a modern hunter and the accuracy and reliability aren't bad but I expected more for the money. I have a couple KAC ARS and other than being restricted I don't see the varminter being much different. I just worry about the acr being front heavy like the railed heavy barrel xcr. I found once the keymod and light barrel were put in the balance was better. Is there a point to getting the enhanced ACR if you change out handguard anyway?

Enhanced ACR is usually all thats available for some reason, and the Moe handgauard is highly sought after.

Though it would have been cheaper to produce heavy barrels, we very specifically didn't use heavy barrels in order to keep the weight as OEM and to avoid the criticism that we have seen of other NR ACRs conversions.

The difference between standard and enhanced ACR is the Standard has the plastic HG and an A2 flash hider vs the Enhanced which has railed aluminum handguard and an AAC flash hider.

We offered the Enhanced when BM first put them on special price, that special ended in May. BM then put the standard on at special price. That special is now over too. If you notice the serious price difference on our site between standard and enhanced, that is the reason. There is normally only a couple of hundred $ in difference between Enhanced and Standard. Once the current standard folders are sold out, the difference in price will be less extreme.

I just scored the last one from Redwolf Airsoft... tried to buy a couple to re-sell on the EE (optimize shipping cost) but it was the last one.

Lots of ebay sellers have these too... just search for Masada PTS long handguard and you should find some. :)
