Alright guys,
So I've been thinking about either an ACR or a high quality AR purchase for about over a year now.

I have about 3000$ for my birthday in April (yes I'm treating myself) and I'm thinking of either a AR 15 (Noveske or a Knights), or a Bushmaster ACR. I already have a spare xps-2 with a g22 with some troy flips that i'll put as optics on either choice of firearm.

Whats of utmost important to me is, in order of importance: reliability, durability, and consistent accuracy.

So i'm looking for your opinions, shoot away.

You could wait for the G36... I mean HK243 :) if restricted doesnt matter just buy a hk mr223 and never look back.

That could take a while for the g36 to come in, maybe even a year, I want that baby in my arms by mid April, which means I need to buy my birthday present around mid February. Yes I'm a big baby and I can't wait.

Well let's say for the purpose of this analysis that the ACR stays in its restricted form.

Then you can get one fine AR for the cost of a ACR. Or a fine AR + ammo + accessories.

If you can properly maintain it and treat it right the AR meets the criteria required. It's reliable (run it wet :p ), it's durable, and out of the two can be the more accurate and have repeatable results.

MR223. Don't look back, don't doubt yourself. JUST DO IT. Wait that's nike my bad. DON'T COMPROMISE.

Yahh I'm not sure about that HK, well by the time it comes in country it'll be my birthday again and I guess I could grab one then.

Let's stick to the ACR vs AR15 discussion.

Accuracy with my ACR has been excellent overall. Norinco ammo shoots just over and inch at 50 yards using my mag as a monopod. I have run Black Hills ammo through it with a bipod and it's sub MOA.

Or you could get a swiss arms black special. They are stupid accurate and NR. Watch out coyotes.

Due to the controversy might as well pre order a sg 540 as it's the same practically and non restricted made in not Switzerland though.... With an nea ar mag well

For the AR also consider the ADCOR bear with ambi lower. I'm very impressed with this design. It's still under the radar. With a full ambi lower it should almost be classified as a different firearm than the AR. Very cool hybrid DI/piston design. Quality is top notch. My two have zero carrier tilt. Hits square on the buffer.

LMT mrp, KAC, Noveske, HK are all top notch AR rifles. There are lots of high end AR rifles.

I like the ACR but feel it's still essentially in Beta stage. It still has a few things to work out. I suspect in a few years it will be a much better option.

This.

Granted I'm totally sold on the design :)

As for its current availability, you can now import either the BEAR Elite upper or a complete rifle from Jason at IRunGuns. Their lower isn't full ambi as far as I remember, but still a great deal nontheless.

If the OP doesn't mind buying used or in some cases almost new in box, there is some great deal in the EE from time to time for higher end ARs..KAC, LMT, Noveske..with $3k burning a hole in my pocket I don't think I could resist very long.

Thanks, I'd never heard of that adcor bear, I'll take a looksie.

No, I'm allergic to anything used.

And add PWS to yout list. I own 2 of them and they are great piston rifles, my 223 has close to 4000 rounds through it without a failure and is very accurate.

That wasn't my experience with them and they may become prohibited at any time. Then your out $3000+ with nothing to show for it. Hopefully they don't rule that way but it's still up in the air right now and not worth the risk till after they announce their decision. They don't have to compensate owners if they take them away and if you keep it and get caught you get charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.
