Action shooting with a .22??

removed quote of bone headed statement that has been nuked.... SB

What was the distance laterally between shooters at that event? Was proper muzzle control exercised by all the shooters?

In the videos it looks like there's is a little valley farther along in the direction of the shooting. Was it accessible? Those hills would have made good backstops.

You are making it sound like something it wasn't! At the CQB the safety had to keep pushing you forward and he was right behind you and we were running in a straight line. I know you are trying to prove a point but please explain it better as the CQB was very safe; unlike the .22 rimbine shoot that you have to admit went a little screwey!

I'm hoping a couple of us will organize some .22 shoots this winter - I think it would be fun (and cheap!) and although I know it doesn't fit into the ideology of IDPA - I love shooting rimfire!

Hey it does when you want to shoot but not worry about collecting brass in 2-3 feet of snow.

As for this "Rimbine" thing, that well, that is a whole other story.

Tactical .22 ("Rimbine" + runnin & gunnin + on crown land + no experience slinging = recipe for disaster in my opinion.

I know some of the guys that participate in this, all I can say is, why not approach the club or one of the IDPA SO's, with a plan, and have them approach the club and see what you can come up with. I know a few of the IDPA SO's at our club have recently purchase .22 carbines to have some fun with at some of the IDPA matches just for fun. Anything is possible, it just needs to be done in a controlled environment, with the proper supervision and qualified people there to assist, not worth the risk.

I'm all in for doing this stuff at the club - my understanding was that babes brought it up after we talked about it but I haven't heard any definite plans after that. Who's door do I have to go knocking at to make this happen

I would talk with one of the IDPA SO's, show them your idea, see what they think and then let them take it to the BOD. As you have seen, the BOD is pretty good and open to pretty much all shooting as long as it is controlled and run by qualified SO's and RO's.

I did speak to babes about it previously ... babes, care to chime in? Do you mind taking it up to the BOD at Orono or would you prefer I ask another SO?

I would talk to the people who run IDPA at Orono, Melissa and Kevin, they are both on the BOD and really open to any kind of cool shooting and they will help you promote it if the BOD feels it is safe to organize and run.

Kevin was the one who brought his M&P .22 during IDPA and said he wanted to do this in the winter time. Doug was in agreement so I think this is a done deal when the snow falls.

That was Noel, but in talking thus far, I think this would be a go based on IDPA rules and range control by an IDPA SO.
