Active-shooter Rapid -responce Lessons to learn

We all have had the emergency response message on our cellphones.

IT WOULD TAKE ALL OF 20 minutes to get those phones ringing!!!

Sure could have.
While they tell you the goal is safety of the public and protecting the innocent and vulnerable. Their actions betray their stated purpose.
There would be no hesitation to put up an alert for a missing child, because it fits their narrative of shepherd big daddy government never allows a wayward sheep to dangerously wander the wilderness.

But they just couldn’t bring themselves to fulfill their stated goal when it conflicted with their actual goal of maintaining the image of “authority”. Warning people that their image was a weapon being used against them, very effectively I might add, was obviously just a little bit too close to the truth for the religiously devoted.
Statists know your shame.

lol. There are many people on this board who have been on both sides of the mil/LE coin. Statements like this show total ignorance of the differences between the jobs that the MIL side does and LE does. LE tac teams guys are quite often ex military. The guys who arent ex mil are usually very switched on. Do you not think RCMP ERT trains with JTF alot?

Try to wrap your head around the fact that closing with and destroying the enemy is quite different from attempting to arrest a person in Canada under the rules of the criminal code and various oversight bodies. Also, incidents like this catch people by surprise. I have never been to Nova Scotia, but i will guess that that isn't a very population dense. It takes time to gather resources to respond. filtering the info coming in is chaotic.

Lots of keyboard warriors here who haven't been in a fight are all experts in tactics. I am FAR from saying the RCMP does not need to improve and self examine. but statements like this remind of of a guy who has never turned a wrench on a car #####ing about how the mechanic does his job.

Even the guy who has never turned a wrench knows wether the issue was fixed or not and which mechanic leave scratches in the paint and grease on the seat. Also mechanics are far more important to the economy and safety of the public, how long of being a state mandated enforced monopoly could that profession endure before they themselves became a net liability like the rest of the government?

If you two think it's so bad here, then pack your stuff and go somewhere else. I'll pretty much guarantee that it won't take long before you realize how great it is to live in Canada. Perfect? No. Pretty damn great compared to almost anywhere else? Yes.

You think you can get rid of me by making this place into a shythole.
Wrong I will be one of the consequences for turning this place into a shythole.
I would rather advise you to carefully consider the price you yourself are willing to pay for turning this place into a shythole because it won’t end at just having to live in a shythole.

If you don’t like that then you go ahead and move yourself to a pre existing shythole and save yourself the trouble of building your own and the agrevation of having your mess cleaned up.

RCMP sent out a mass text alert warning yesterday in Halifax after another report of shots fired (unfounded). They obviously learned from this mistake, and have now improved communication with the public. There is always room for improvement in tactics and comms, as we have seen with the evolution and implementation of IARD, after failed response to mass school shootings in the US. For all you arm chair quarterbacks who will jump at any chance to trash the police, in the event you need 9-1-1 one day, I look forward to reading about how you single handedly dealt with the situation with your John Wick and Call of Duty skills learned in front of the TV, from the comforts of your own home.

My main concern is the fact that ERT does not require 2020 CANSOFCOM levels of kit for the number of legitimate calls they recieve (the VAST majority being precautionary). Like ive previously stated for the 1 mass shooting of over 10 fatalities we have every 30 years the resources cant be justified when they could be better used elsewhere (ie, people deployed to Iraq being issued ww2 browning hi powers, and some of that 80s style kit you mentioned, such as fragmentation vests which attract the ridicule of most other contingents...)

Browning hi powers and frag vest... Yup other nations are definitly laughing at us lately. I was in norway in 2018 and the reg force italian infantry are equipped like cansofcom while we walk around with what belongs in museums and landfills...

Regarding ERT: ops core helmets, plate carriers and multicam is hardly cansofcom level gear but I understand the point though. I know several patrolpeople (lol) QPP and RCMP who took matters personnaly and bought their own PPE (plates, carrier and some even bought helmets). That's pretty sad when frontline has to provide their own protection.

We are not trashing the RCMP officers with their feet on the ground. Nobody is asking why an alert was not spread after the first initial attack in the first one or two hours. But a lot of people including victims families are asking why after 8-10 hours there is still no alert. This is a GROSS failure of RCMP leadership and ultimately Bill Blair the Minister responsible for public safety. Futhermore, Officer Heidi Stevenson, after 8-10 hours is basically out there under-armed and under-supported.

The RCMP leadership is supposed to be experienced, trained and has the authority to take necessary action especially after 8-10 hours has elapsed.

Every thinking person has a pretty good idea of how many lives were lost unnecessarily that morning because of leadership failure.

A lot of people are very lucky that he made the mistake of stopping for fuel.

RCMP sent out an “unfounded” text alert that... a mass shooter dressed to appear like an RCMP member... Didn’t think so, no wonder you also fell for that tired tripe that anyone wanting to do anything to better their lot without the express blessing of statist control is insert stereotypes and fellow up with shaming attacks.

Thank you, you prove my point for me far better than I ever could myself.

We have been on a steady decline in Canada and for that matter all western civilized countries since about 1965 when the globalists opened the floodgates to bring in the third world. Certainly you are correct to say that Canada is still the go to place. Everyone from just about anywhere wants to come to Canada or the USA.

Telling a person pointing out facts that they should move elsewhere is not a useful rebuttal. The fact is that things are not as good as they used to be and our safety is being compromised on all levels. Government taxation and spending at all levels is out of control. It used to be Made in Canada. We have all natural resources, technology, human resources, you name it we can build it within. We do not need to be dependent on China for pharmaceuticals for example.

If you do not think the international situation is bad, all you have to do is take a look at western European countries and the result of EU migration policies. It is a fact that England is destined to become an Islamic state in two generations. It is simple arithmetic. Demographics is destiny. Much the same situation exists is Germany, France, the rest of western Europe. Our Liberal and previous Conservative majority governments in recent times have continued to allow roughly 250,000 primarily non-European people to legally enter Canada. Trudeau says 300,000 plus is a better number.

Back to your original comment...........There is not really anyplace better to go. We cannot escape what is coming. The USA, the second amendment and patriots will decide the fate of western civilization. Is it too late for Europe? We will soon know the answer. Canada and Australia/New Zealand are in as much trouble as Western Europe.

The Eastern European countries resisted the EU migration because they already had a taste of communism.

As long as we continue to elect Members of Parliament that are working to support a globalist agenda instead of representing their constituents our once great country will continue to devolve to the lowest common denominator which will be third world status. And of course with the corrupt bought and paid for mainstream media leading the leftist charge.

Democracy can only succeed if there is informed participation by voters. Most people make good decisions if they have truthful information. The mainstream media is the greatest enemy to our democracy.

Your are right. Still the best place to be and many of us would like to keep it that way.

Actually if you goto post #77 but you probably won't. Is a screen shot of my phone. Of a text warning of 2 shootings happening in the Halifax area. Which ended up being nothing. But they listened to the criticism of the shooting on Sunday and started to use it. Can't fake a screen shot.

I'm in the Infantry and while I will not undermine my trade, I would NOT trust a section of no hooks infanteers to do ERT jobs.

There was a time where this statement would have been true, based on what I deal with on a regular basis, yoi couldn't be more wrong and you are clearly speaking about stuff you know nothing about.

IRT to kit: things evolve. Do you want ERT guys sporting the '80s swat style equipement ? Welcome to 2020: high cut helmets and plate carriers are the norm (except in the Army, haven't had my coffee yet so I'm not going there). C8s with short barrels replaced MP5 and so on... I question the multicam choice, I think ranger green or urban grey would be more suited for ERT but at that point it become tactical fashion and I don't care.

Most ERT guys are great to work with, most of them are "barely cops" meaning they don't carr about tickets and all the day to day cop stuff. You get the usual hot head who looks down on people/think he is better, who is quickly put back in its spot when challenged.

I agree. I’ve only had small interactions with the ERT folks, but low key, professional, and focused would describe the ones I met. Speaking of infantry, that was me long time ago and those folks are not the people you want chasing a shooter in public.

If you check, you will see that this article was written by Ron borsch. I can not claim any credit for this so you do not have an inkling about what I am not saying! I posted this article as I thought it made several good points but as always on CGN the thread goes off on a tangent.

I think we've learned enough from this thread John.

In my day job I occasionally deal with management trying to oversee emergency response. With 1 notable exception(former response member) they are terrible. The RCMP promotes many who would rather manage than “police”. This is what you get.

In the event I need to call 911 Police will be AT LEAST an hour's drive away. So my COD, and John Wick skills? That would be IPSC :) That's my training for defence. Anything further away should stay there. And I'll be damned if I am to cower in a corner and wait for an hour or better for the RCMP to arrive.

I practice religiously. It's part of my life skills. Because when all is said and done, I am my own plumber, electrician, garbage man, provider, and most importantly, Protector.

Understand, some people actively train. And prepare. I have not been grocery shopping in 40 days. Living off home canned goods from the outside root cellar, farm raised fowl and beef, eggs and bacon. It has nothing to do with paranoia, but a choice to be prepared. It's a lifestyle choice, much like the choice some make to shop for food every day.

Having a firearm in each barn has more to do with predation than self protection when you live in a rural environment.

Perhaps your situation is different. Mine is different than most. I tailor my day to day needs based on that criteria.

Not issuing a cell phone alert was careless at best, but in all honestly it was the grossest form of negligence by the RCMP in this situation.

So according to your logic Canada went downhill due to immigration from poor countries. I can’t believe people with your thinking feel confident to still post that garbage in this day and age. Right to my ignore list you go.

Same remark here....I am an immigrant myself. Curious to know what you do for a living ? Usually the people who post this kind of garbage haven’t had a fulfilling career..or life in general. No wonder the liberals keep getting re-elected despite their terrible performance.
