i have a smooth bore gun, this one i was thinking using a scope on for 50-100m, and did not want a super long barrel, since i do not need it for sights.
thanks guys, you are great.

Happy, since all shotshell powder is burned in 16" to 18" of tube, other than swing or weight balance, there is no advantage to having a barrel over 20". I prefer longer barrels for waterfowl or trap simply for the feel of the gun. With regards to slug accuracy, I have a Remington 1100 which I recently purchased a 21" smoothbore cantilever barrel for and topped it off with a cheapie Tasco Pronghorn 3-9 32mm scope, and used my IC choke tube. Tried it at the range with a couple of brands of rifled slugs the other day and I was totally impressed to say the least. Once I got her on target, I shot a 3 1/4" group at 100 yards with Remington 2 3/4" Sluggers! The worst group was about 5". I doubt if sabots can shoot much better then that, and I've even owned rifles that couldn't do that(I didn't own them for very long mind you

)
