advice getting a decent 22lr

Hi Larry

i tried to follow that link but apparently i'm not permitted ....some kind of warning pops up..??

is Delsin a dealer... is there a website ?

so far as i can tell .. the 453 just has a single set trigger...is that the reason for the cost going up.. or is it a much different gun from the 452

thanks

cz 452 shoots dang near as well as the anschutz 64 action at 1/2 the price. weatherby is the anschutz 64 action, same as the old cil's , tc r-55 all weather is more accurate than the cz 452, but its a semi, does have a match grade heavy barrel. cz is really one you will never regret buying

Big pile of CZ's at P&D in Edmonton, they did have a full stocked one a couple of weeks back but it may have been sold.
I have the 453 in a 17 HMR and it is a fine rifle, but not worth the extra dough in my opinion. FS

If you can't follow the link, you need to request permission on CGN to look at the Equipment Exchange forums. Delsins is a dealer that lists on CGN.
Another dealer that carries CZ's is SakoAlberta (Prophet River Firearms).

The CZ American is an excellent gun, but it's one weakness is the trigger.
If you're not fussy about triggers, you might be okay with it stock, or if not, you can either install the yodave kit (about $15.00 mailorder) or get a riflebasix aftermarket trigger (about $85.00 mailorder).
I haven't tried the 453 trigger, but some claim it is worth the extra cash over the 452.

thanks for the tips

after looking at the sponsor links... so far Flaherty's is the closest to me (about 5 to 600km away ) and it has one on his site... I should give them a call and makesure its there... ... hopefully they are decent to deal with

the trigger should be ok.. aslong as its crisp.. i'll remember those kits incase

man, i'm getting excited... seen some more picture of cz's on rimfire C and wow.... they look good

I purchased this Mk-II Savage (FSS) for rabbits & tin cans & it has the best factory trigger I have ever squeezed,.....& at 5-1/2 lbs is sweet for carry in the bush.....

With this single shot adapter you can even shoot the short .22 cartridges with ease.

5 or 10 shot magazines to choose from, it can be a very versitile rifle.
I might even buy another.....

I have the 453 American, and the trigger unset is S-W-E-E-T! Set, it is beyond sweet. Love mine. I got it used from a fellow CGN'er here. I paid about the same as a 452 new. One hole goups out to 50 yards, so far and that is with some of the cheaper bulk ammo.

You will never regret the purchase of a CZ. You'll never want for more either. Accurate and Beautiful. They're only beat by Anshutz in my opinion.

I have a Savage Mark II BTV and a Mark II TR both are great for the money and the extra tweakings that can be done.

If you're just getting back into it, and you think you'll likely get into something bigger, like a varmint, or hunting, or action shooting, why not try an old Cooey? Classic, no plastic, and does anything a new .22 can except cycle fast enough make you pretend you're firing full-auto :)

I haven't seen the CZ American - gonna go look that one up tonight!

Dudes.... its enroute. !!

ordered from Flaherty's ....

I'm sooooo stoked... :dancingbanana:

man, i procrastinated for 3 years over doing this... and its like a weight off my shoulders...

it should be here late nextweek... now to scope that sucker...

thanks all for the advice

Congrats. If you want to get the most out of it put quality glass on it, not a bargain basement special. My minimum would be a Bushnell 3200 3-9x40 and the 5-15x50AO would be better yet. I have a CIL/Anschutz 310 with a 4200 4-16x40AO and it is definitely not too much scope for a quality rimfire. The adjustable objective is almost mandatory on a rimfire in order to accommodate shots closer than 50yds.

I've owned Walther's, Anchuzt, (KKj's and 180's and 190's) also a host of the cheaper north American varieties. I asked the same question 2 years back as far as getting a decent rimfire (.22) Two differant friends told me to try a CZ either 452 or 453. And I'm really!!! glad I did .I have a 452 (light barrel) and it is the most consistently accurate rimfire I have ever owned . Likes all kinds of ammo and makes em touch at 50 yds if I hold well enough.

I managed to get a leftie CZ452 and I have to say it is one of the nicest 22s I have seen. I liked it so much I bought its big brother the CZ527 in 223. Blew me away when I found out they are identical weight and that minimauser is a sweet action. Got Nikon glass on both and they are a pleasure to shoot. Accuracy, reliability, and consumate good looks. Gotta feel the love. FWIW the shop I got it from-all 7 guys own CZ452 or 453. When I ordered in the CZ527
(another leftie) there was some serious drooling.

for a semi, a marlin is as good ''out of the box'' as a ruger 10/22 ,half the price and some say more accurate.Of course-my favourite .22 is a single shot, ''short'' only, Husqvarna rolling block thats considerable older than me-and I'm 63
