Advice on the 260 remington

HUH ? a 260 is a 6.5 caliber ! WHAT did you think it was ? RJ

Yes, I know that it's a 6.5 calibre.

But there is the creedmoor, which your a fan of. Then their is the 260 which I'm think of doing in a rifle. Then the 6.5x55 swede.

I guess what I was trying to say is, 6.5 creedmoor is a newish calibre which is super popular. I kinda like the slightly "different" calibres.

I guess I don't want to tread on the well traveled road, try a less traveled route so to say?

260 is a good cartridge. It will do anything the creed will do, and a little more. Enjoy. - dan

Sounds like spending a bunch of money for a body kit that makes a Honda civic look like a Porsche.

How about just keep it a 308, maybe sell it to fund what you want. Your going to be into your project for much more than you could ever recover in resale. At the end of the day, it's a 788, not worth Kimber money.

Yes, probably buying a brand new barrel would be not the greatest idea. Another idea is, Potashminer has a spare 243 barrel laying around. Probably going to try that.

How about a cartridge that has brass everywhere, and mostly for free and shoots 110 - 220 grain bullets capable of harvesting pretty much every species in NA and is pretty adept at paper too...?

Yea the 243 win is nearly a 260 rem or a 6.5 x 55 Swede ! :rolleyes:Your kinda like a drunk driver -all over the road from Ditch to ditch ! f:P: Oh Well have Fun :p RJ

Yeah, I guess I am a bit :D Just had a guy on here mail me about a 6.5x284 barrel, he says probably have to take of about 3" might work since all I'll have to do is get it threaded for the 788 and maybe the chamber cut to 260?

At this point there is a limit to what the internet can tell you. Someone with gunsmithing experience needs to do a survey of the barrel dimensions (and bore condition) to ascertain what is feasible, and at what expense. Otherwise, you are just rolling the dice.

Yes, the guy that contacted me has quite a bit of experience.
