Advice please on pistol purhase !

Im a huge beretta fan its my favorite gun ive ever shot (92fs) its my go to gun everytime but if I had to step out of my beretta box it would be a kimber 1911 those things are built so dam well! Its hard to argue with it,my dad has 5 of em and once their were broken in they kicked so much ass! And like i said im a beretta fan boy i have a norc 1911 and had a para as well im not a hug fan of the 1911 platform but i respect a design thats been around for so damn long and is still being used as much as it was 100 years ago. That in its self is a reason to own one if its going to be your one and only
 
if you're lucky to find one Beretta Brigadier 92 EliteII you're on the right spot, otherwise go for a more common and easy to find SIG P226 Elite Stainless.
for 1911 platform I'd look for a STI Ranger II, Kimber CII or Colt Commander all in 9mm cal
 
When I first started out I tried a heap of handguns at the local Rent-A-Gun range. In the end I quickly came to the conclusion that I liked the trigger on the hammer guns and that I liked all metal. After trying a bunch I went with CZ as my first choice. I've got others now but if I had to reduce it all to only one semi auto the CZ would still be here.

If you're a big fan of 9mm AND 1911's I can say without a doubt that an STI Ranger II is a great option. The commander length and 9mm seem like a match made in Heaven. I've shot this option at the Rent-A-Gun range and will likely get my own Ranger II in time.

The only downside is that if you want to use 10 rounds in a single stack 1911 platform you'll need to find some extended mags. If you shoot the gun in competitions there may be fitment issues for size with the extended mags. On that aspect the CZ wins.

Of my two CZs, a Shadown and an older pre-b 75, I actually prefer the balance in the hand of the short dustcover 75. The Shadow is notcably front heavy even if you don't pick up both back to back. The Shadow uses this extra mass to tame recoil a little better but both are fine. I have no problem with rapid fire groups with the 75 when it's needed in a match stage. And both my CZ's have proven to be insanely reliable and non fussy.
 
Sterling Carbines? - Right, you NEED a Browning Hi Power - single action, all steel, 9mm, excellent accuracy, and the work of the same genius that designed the 1911. It'll also go perfectly with the Sterlings - they were issued side by side. Get yourself a DPM Windproof and you're off to the Falklands!
 
the most expensive custom 9mm 1911 you can afford since you are unlikely to have other pistols you might as well get a really good one

for semi/production custom my preference is nighthawk
 
S&W 1911sc. That's my last one and I'm very impressed with it

I never used to like Glocks but love them now. Beretta 92 esp in Inox is a great gun too, so is CZ 75. Sig 1911 Carry is a great quality, 'small' sized gun with good of power (.45).

I sort of lean towards the 1911 platform, would "prefer" 9mm as it is the same caliber as my Sterling Carbines. Would like suggestions from hand gunners who are not brand loyal (unbiased). Thanks !!

If you possess a 12(6) may I suggest S&W 39-2. I just got one and love it.
Marstar's got a couple for $450ish so pretty cheap.
 
The 9mm 1911 stainless SAM enhanced commanders look pretty nice to me....I'd be tempted to throw an Ed Brown Bobtail mainspring on it, an STI trigger and some different grips.
