Advice: T97 or Tavor IWI (Gen 1 or X95)

Thanks for the insight. I'm pretty new to shooting and am just trying to get more info about my first firearm purchase. I started looking at the t97 then after reading more was directed to the tar21, then the x95. I've seen a lot of people have feed issues and other problems with the t97 and the x95 seems to load pretty much anything. I think my mind is pretty much made up now lol. X95!

With either Tavor, you will not be disappointed as long as you go in not expecting accuracy better than 2-4moa on the average. These are exceptional run & gun card board a steel silhouette shooters and truck guns, but somewhat limited in the mid to longer ranges for much more than minute of "bad-guy".

Interesting! I was under the impression that the 2.5 was more accurate than the x95.

Second this.

They are 3-5MOA on average with factory non-match ammo in the practical word. The typical AR is about 2-4MOA.

X95 it is then! Will see if I can get a FDE one anywhere and try to sell my T97 first, but I'm convinced to get a Tavor.

Good choice wifey bought one for my 40th birthday what a gift my favorite rifle of all I have. Very fun to shoot have run close to 3k rounds and not one single issue I run wet with synthetic motor oil and it still looks brand new, very minimal wear if you'd call it that. You won't go wrong with the x95.

got one of each in tavors/x95------------both my wife and me prefer the 2.5 tavs with tavd triggers---keeping the x95 just so i can say i have one lol

I would be concerned law enforcement might say that is still improper storage since the x95 grip could be removed with a nickle.

i think its best to run through the bolt with a cable. But that nickle thing would be quite a legal challenge for the courts to prove negligence on the part of the owner.

I'd go with the X95: personal preference for me as it's just a fun gun. Or... INSERT GRATUITOUS PLUG SHAMELSSLY HERE: You can buy a ticket or two on the Tavor we are raffling off at the club.. see my sigline

Comrades,
I am having a crisis of conscience. My beloved T97 is not feeling the love from me. Can't say why, just feel like I want to change it up. I have always hated maintaining it, even with the FTU I find breakdown a pain. I have a line on a gently used Tavor that I've always wanted, but accuracy aside, I keep hearing the X95 is the way to go. This will pretty much exclusively be my coyote rifle/non restricted for walks in the woods, etc. Any advice you all can offer would be appreciated--the advice I received on getting an AR-15 was awesome and I ended up getting a DD that I love.

THIS! (the bold part). I own both a TAR21 and T97. I took both out to the range a couple of weeks ago. After a couple of hours on the TAR21, I switched for the T97. My first shot was literally "by accident". Nowhere near as mushy a pull as the Tavor. The T97 trigger is hands down much better out of the box. The TAR21 is capable of the better trigger, but not without hundreds of dollars in upgrades.

I love the smaller, thinner feel of the T97, but when it comes to build quality, the Tavor wins hands down. I like the gas adjustment system on the T97 though. Would have been cool if the Tavor had something similar.

I got to try out an X95 awhile ago. I prefer the TAR21, but it all comes down to personal preference. Functionality wise, they are nearly identical. I just happen to prefer the mag release on the TAR21. I had to do it with 2 hands on non free falling mags with the X95 (press the mag release button with one hand, and pull it out with the other). With the TAR21, I could do both with one hand, and reload while keeping my finger near the trigger.

For about $2 worth of music wire to make a trigger spring for your Tavor and removing the U shaped support on the barrel your Tavor will have 4.5
lb trigger and shoot MOA groups. Once you find the right hand load for your gun it is a fine coyote rifle. You don't have to spend a lot of money to make these rifles shoot well.
