Is there anywhere in Canada I can find a .416 rigby bolt action rifle? Cant seem to find anyone who has any in stock that is under $2k There was a Ruger RSM and a CZ 550 available for a while that was in my price range... or so i thought.

Anyone know?

Keep watching the EE, I've seen Ruger RSM rifles pop up once in a while. A 416 Rigby would be tempting!

Good luck!

Cheers
Jay

I was very tempted to buy a 416 a couple times, but in the end knew that it probably wouldn't have been used much and would cost a lot of money when the dies, brass and bullets were factored in ......... and the rifles are (and need to be) heavy. Not much fun to carry or shoot.

If one needs to scratch a "bigger bore" itch, a 375 H&H or Ruger is a much better route to go for hunting here in NA. BTDT.

The .375 H&H wouldn't be put into service much either... but that didn't stop me from picking up my sixth RSM, and fourth in .375 H&H... just thought it would make a great big brother to my RSE .30/06... but it will probably move along eventually too... I had the RSM in .416 Rigby and .458 WM also and the .458 was the best of the bunch with regard to weight, balance and handling... it is too bad they didn't contour the barrels to the bore.

more a shame they never did the rsm in left hand ....

I have light, magna ported, tang safety Ruger in 375-338 Taylor for sale.
Has very fast shot recovery thanks to magna porting and kicks way less than 338 Win Mag!
Shoots like a dream and I wouldn't be afraid to use it even against big five in Africa.

It's got my mouth watering. You all are going to hate me but I plan on using it black bear hunting and at least once on a white tail. I figure if I hit the neck or ribs I should be in an acceptable amount of meat loss.

African game in Canada ?

Well, some of us feel that way about our out of control immigration policies ... lol :p

I think you'll find that the big slow tough bullets that are ticket on the big nasties will do less meat damage than smaller higher velocity rounds.

On the other hand; if you're just taking up the slack in your trigger after your bear comes in and some idiot parks a battleship in between.....................you're still in the game. ;)
