Ahh the great SKS vs Type 81 debate... Time to PROVE IT!

This !!

This BS myth need to stop being repeated. Heard it so many times in 17 years, never once from someone who had served/still serving.

Well then it's your first time. However you and other poster clearly misunderstood what this concept is about and confusing what I said with "5.56mm is designed to wound not kill" myth.
There's no doubt "to kill or to wound" was never a part of training, for abstract firing position it was "to suppress", for the enemy soldier it was "to incapacitate" IIRC. However it's a valid consideration for requirement for a cartridge development, i.e. there's no need to put "terminal wound" in the requirements for projectile. I would recommend any serious book about history of cartridges, it's all there.

P.S. Sorry for off-topic, OP. I'll try to make it up with my results as soon as I get to the range.

can i play if im just comparing SKS's?

I have a unmolested russian, a tapco and a bubba special

The Challenge is open to pretty much all forms of firearms short of rimfire. If u want to participate and be tallied into the official list of submissions, i invite u to check out the CGN link I posted at the start that explains more of the rules.

However if u want to try the Challenge unofficially then of course the rules dont matter and just have at her haha. I and many others would still be interested to see or hear about ur results regardless.

I am well aware that the D models were , according to the internet, made for civilian markets and have never stated otherwise..... though you seem to like to throw that one out there frequently in these threads. I simply wonder what other countries may have purchased those commercially made SKS-D rifles for use in various insurgencies and ethnic wars. I'm sure nobody here has that answer and shouldn't pretend too.

as for the AR family of rifles...... they have no place in this discussion as those rifles are obviously not T81 nor are they sks rifles so not sure why the AR was even brought up here.

well i will stop it. you like sks d and this the epitom of the sks for you and only for you not for every users or previous we may disagree on that one ... sks d were not in use in military because they re not reliable ... some may some not ...sks is a great working tool adding the ak magazine doesnt make it working better and it is in some case worst ...

SKS are battle proven. makes no sense for countries to pay extra for an unproven gun. altho i loved my "D" collection i once had, i would never go to battle with one.

BTW what rule # is no hijacking threads?

I guess despite the fact you can get a warning for gumming up a thread with nonsense it's not actually a rule. Continue on with the asinine arguments then. I will be sure to visit your next thread and start arguing about something barely to almost not at all relevant.

How the hell can the OP hijack his own thread? Jesus.

Well.... the thread became a bait n switch as soon as the AR was added to the mix.
the title of the thread draws us in.... and I am truly interested in seeing owners of both type 81 and SKS rifles put thier rifles through the challenge and post here.
I'm not forking out any cash for either rifle until I see some real range reports. I'm in a tiny town in the interior of BC and it's near impossible to get a hands on with a t81 so I rely on threads like this. Can't take an AR to the range so the entry of AR discussion to the thread is more of a bait n switch and this thread kinda loses it's appeal and is plugged up LOL

maybe a mod can clean it up as I'm sure the OP had good intentions at the beginning

Both are great rifles. Robust and reliable, each with it's unique characteristics.
Unfortunately prices all across the board are outpacing what the common man can afford in this 'new world'.
