AICS stocks ...

OK as usual CGN will be the death of me... or my credit card.... or both...

I just ordered a new AICS stock in black, stage 2.0. I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks and functions compared to my McMillan. It's odd that I did this because I always said I'd never buy one. I guess theres just something about that folding stock that sold me, that and reading up on what it was designed for and the rugged, durability aspect. In terms of price Wolverine sold it to me for $1253.50 a big difference from the $1400 quote I got from two stores in Calgary.

In any event I hope it looks as good as it sounds, and hopefully it doesn't take too long to sell my McMillan A5... I will post some pics as soon as I get it, hopefully thursday...

Shouldn't it be the other way around? Loyal customers should get some kind of discount.
You would think, but in the firearms world it seems to be the opposite. Pricing seems to always fluctuate so you have to bounce around from dealer to dealer for the best price. Others set there pricing and thats that. Some think that because there reputation is so good they can charge a premium on everything. To me, parts are parts and every Canadian dealer for the most part has good customer service, (if a problem did ever arise on said part) so it doesn't really pay to be loyal when theres no reward....

Every AICS stock that I know of comes from Wolverines in Canada,, so its up to individual dealers to set there pricing off that,, and some are just crooks..

Yes I realized prices do fluctuate, but the price spreads are huge. Not in the dollars but in the hundreds. I don't mind pay $5-$20 difference, but not one- two hundred. I have no loyalty to any dealers.

Let's see your AICS stocked rifles in different calibres ... instead of jibber-jabber please ... HAHA :D :p I receive my AICS bi-pod today from "tshelrud" on the board ... thank you very much for the deal Trevor ... :D ... I eventually want to put on a heavy barrel 20 inch with a twist to shoot out 168 hpbt and 170 FMJ's ... what would be a good twist as I'm still learning here? Also know of anyone selling a monopod for the buttend of my stock?

Time for me to clear up some misunderstandings. Yes Wolverine Supplies is the exclusive Canadian importer for Accuracy International products, we purchase these direct from the UK. Our cost is set by AI’S export price in US $, yes US $, not GBP. Last Nov we lowered our prices to reflect the stronger Canadian dollar against the US dollar. We (read I) failed to insure that all of our dealers received their new lower prices.

It is very unfortunate that as soon as a CGN member thinks a price is out of line the reaction is to imply that reputable dealers are crooks and that they (the retail customer) are been screwed. In this case a simple phone call or e-mail to us would have established our recommended retail price, bring that to your local dealer and I am confident that everything would have fallen into place.

Here at Wolverine Supplies we do not discount any lines that we import, it would make no sense, why would another dealer purchase from us if we were discounting the product? Contray to what some may believe, the margins in this industry are very small, especial to the genuine full time operations that have real overheads, rent, wages, advertising, Bank payments, liability insurance etc. We need to protect the small margin that they have.

As for loyalty? That works in two directions! Why not support your local retail store, you may get a better deal and we need a strong industry if we are to survive.

I know now some one will raise the question, why don’t we list all our prices? We are working on it, it is a consent struggle to keep everything updated, there are only so many hours in a day.

Fair enough John,

Although, i think my intentions were mis-interpreted here. It was not my intention to run any dealers into the ground. I was simply sharing my findings because price has come up lots in this thread. That being said, based on some research and flipping through old threads it seems that your current price (1250) has been in place for quite some time. Like others have mentioned most guys don't mind paying a couple bucks difference here and there but 150? IMO stocks are a hot commodity in this industry, staying on top of pricing shouldn't be that difficult. Like I said, I'm not trying to raise a big stink I was just sharing my findings, I'm not guna lie though, I was a little shocked at the difference.

PS the service from you guys as usual was top notch, I can't wait to see my new toy... Thanks again,

More pictures please!! The 2.0 is the route I would go if I had the extra bucks. Give it anothe year or two and we will see an new crop of stock makers that will start competing with the AICS for the market. Hopefully with better designs and prices.

Mr. Wolverine,

Tell me this,, is there enough margins for a dealer to make it worth while to sell AICS? or are we talking about margins that we may as well buy through Wolverine.
To me I think someone is not passing off the buck, if a dealer has to charge $150 more than your retail price, to make a profit something is not right. Well its all nice that you have expenses running a company, we as consumers have expenses as well and work hard for every penny we make, so if the dealers can't have a common price, with in reason some thing is wrong.

I am sticking my neck here, I don’t want to get it chopped off or upset some dealers but I will try and explain.

Genuine business (as opposed to part time basement dealers) will have expenses running from 10 to 20%. We can only offer a 15% dealer discount on AICS or we would have to raise the retail price and every one would be screaming bloody murder at our pricing and sales would be minimum. Given the colors and options there are 22 different models, as these are made over seas the price can fluctuate due to changes in the dollar, so we don’t expect the majority of dealers to carry these in inventory. Are these profitably for a dealer, any one can figure out the math’s! With these margins can they offer a discount? As for charging an extra $150, far from been greedy, there is either a mistake in pricing see my earlier post, or the dealer got caught with old stock when the price dropped! Another hazard for “stocking” dealers.

You will not get a better deal from Wolverine Supplies, with items like these where there are no grey imports and I understood the retail price was pretty stable!

A local dealer can make 15% if you order from him, this is more a courtesy to all concerned rather than profitable venture.

As for consumers working hard and having expenses, I will not argue that one, I have raised a family and paid off a mortgage, it all comes down to how much income is left for “toys” and I respect the fact you have to spend wisely. I can remember my first hunting season in Manitoba (1982) when as a landed immigrant I could not afford one lb of powder to reload so I well understand what it is like to be on a tight budget. This is why I have been determined to endeavor that Wolverine Supplies always offer fair value for money.

Good Ol'CGN eh ... I ask to see your AICS stocked rifles and it get's hi-jacked ... :(

p.s. I purchased my 2.0 stock from a fellow CGNer ... if I had not found one from the board I would have dealt with Wolverine direct as I have in the past with no problems with price/product for magazines, dark earth skins, etc for my AICS stocked remington 700 in .308 ... ;)

There Won't be any head chopping here for sure, after dealing with John H for Year, I believe what you saying, in retailing is very Political, But I believe you price is Very Fair, I get another Stock from you in a Second, maybe two, when I find my Wallet.
