AIM 124gr RN.... NOT!!!! Range report update for 124 and 147gr... Pics

I'm glad the 124's did well, but something isn't right here and I need to know what it is. May I ask what your oal is on the 147 grain load? If you drop-test, is there any contact between the nose of the bullet and the rifling?

You should still back off on the 124 crimp. It's too much.

Last question; do you live anywhere near the GTA?

Scarborough and Northumberland is my home club.

Here is my data

- CZ Shadow SP-01
- Max. OAL with AIM 147gr touching rifling is 1.095"
- Seated bullet to a OAL of 1.085" +/- .001"
- VV N320 3.7gr
- PF of about 138
- Mixed brass
- Fed #100 Primers
- No crimp... just enough to remove bell

Data looks fine. We should try and hook up some time and see what can be discovered.
I live in Burlington and shoot out of Waterloo. I could meet you there and try a few things...?

That would be great but my Saturdays are pretty full right now, Peterbourgh tomorrow, Sharon on the 30th, volunteering with Scout's at Sharon on the 14th of May, Waterloo Match on the 21st - 4th squad for now but may change to the 5th if two more my friend sign up, then the Provincials on the 25th of June.... that's it for now.

I'll keep you posted.

I'll be on Chrono at Waterloo on the Saturday. Shooting the match Sunday, so be sure and speak to me ok? If you can, bring some of this ammo with you and maybe we can find a spot to test it.

While I'm at it do you want me to load some round at a different OAL? If so, do you have recommendations?

No, let's leave it where it is for now. What you have should be fine and if it isn't touching the rifling I would not suspect this as a potential problem. Perhaps a slower burning powder would be more favorable in your gun if you have anything laying around.

Something's certainly amiss, as I've tested this bullet in more than one CZ and it shot fine. I think better with my eyes though so hopefully it'll be clearer to me once I can look at it.

I'll load up afew rounds with 3.8gr of W231, dirty but the slowest I have.

Yes, that would be a good idea for you to send them down range with your eyes.
